Whenever I am in Springfield, VT, I stopped by and say hello to this old schoolhouse and the covered bridge. This schoolhouse holds a special place in my heart as my great grandmother went to this one room school.

See this actual school room, frozen in time. It could be that the teachers and students just left... everything it true to the period and excellently preserved and on display.

This schoolhouse is in a picturesque area on the way to Springfield. The Black River is behind it. Nice to drive up the hills behind it on the other side of the river.

Don't go out of your way but if you pass by it on your way in or out of Springfield then stop and take a look. Bridge is cute but was moved here from another location.

The school was closed the day I stopped, still an interesting building. The bridge is well constructed and in very good shape. Pleasant view and walk.

Stopped by schoolhouse and was disappointed to find we couldn't actually go inside. You can only look in the windows. Not very exciting and took all of 5 minutes. I wouldn't make a special trip just for this.

Old Schoolhouse along Route 11 as you approach this town with its picturesque waterfalls along the Black River. This is not a touristy town. Rather it is representative of Vermont's hard working, blue collar population and it's past heyday as Precision Valley when it produced...More
