This unique "village" of buildings has a vast collection of historic buildings - barns, jail, drug store/pharmacy, lighthouse, railroad station, stable, iron-smith, and even the Ticonderoga steam ship. Located along Lake Champlain. It easily is a 2 hour tour.

We visited the Shelburne Museum for the Georgia OKeefe Exhibit. This coincided with the opening of their newest building specifically dedicated to the Arts. The gardens in the summer are truly beautiful, plenty of variety but the zinnias, dahlias and geraniums were outstanding. This is a great visit for kids of any age as there is so much to see... This is a wonderful museum for any company we have [out of state or downstate]. We do the whole place on those visits. Without company we go at least twice a year, for the spring lilacs, or the peony gardens... the annuual change of outdoor sculptures and of course the Pizzagalli Center. Allow an hour or more for just that... More

I visited the Shelburne over Labor Day weekend. It was not at all what I was expecting from a museum. Instead of your typical building with a handfuls of exhibits mounted to walls, the Shelburne is more of a small village; 45 acres large with each building the equivalent of a museum. You enter from the parking lot through the... More

This is the best museum I have been to in the United States. We have been coming here since our son was in a stroller -- he is now 13. The best part about the museum is that it changes and grows as your family changes and grows -- so we inevitably find new fun things to do every time... More

This is a museum about life; the way it was. Spread out over many acres, this was a terrific way to spend a day touring through period buildings, steam ferry (any kid or nautical fanatic like me will find this irresistable) black smith shop, general stores, and on and on..... Do not miss any part of this fantastic look at... More

This is a very impressive place. Much larger than we'd anticipated. I believe it's spread over 45 acres. During our visit we were able to enter 4 buildings only as the others are closed for the winter months. However, the admission price reflects this as the tickets were only $10. You are able to walk the grounds on nicely maintained... More

We really liked this museum when we visited it with my husband and children. There is some beautiful art work inside of it and many historical artifacts. The sleighs and horse drawn wagons on display are amazing! There are so many things included in this museum: a ship, a lighthouse, a carousel. It’s an impressive collection which takes you back... We used to visit the Shelburne Museum quite a bit when I was younger, but it's a been awhile. We were pretty disappointed to find out after driving almost two hours that only 4 exhibits were opened, none of which were appropriate for children. They had a nice kids activity, but after two hours in the car, the kids were... More

Huge space but no dog allowed to enter even if buildings are closed....... There is an entry fee. It seems interesting from the outside but I didn't have a chance to discover it.
