First time fly fishing (River Itchen Hampshire)
May 2019 • Friends
As a course fisherman, this was my first attempt at fly fishing. despite my nerves at getting it all wrong, the tutor, Brian, put me at ease and his knowledge and patience was to be commended. Everything was explained in great detail and the basic technique of casting was soon picked up (almost). The river was incredibly clean, though not as many fish compared to recent years according to the expert. All in all, a fantastice day in a beautiful setting, learning a new skill, topped off with 3 wild brown trout (the best of the bunch is in the photo, 2lb ).

Fly fishing

On a whim we decided to book a fly fishing 2 hour class. Neither my husband or I had ever down it before. It was an amazing experience and we may take up fly fishing now. Our instructor Brendan was awesome! We had time to learn how to cast your rod from shore and then had the opportunity to go out on a book that practice and catch a fish. Just awesome!!! Highly recommend

One hour lesson w/ Kyle- why not?!
Aug. 2017 • Family
Beware, you might get hooked. Kyle is a pro. The Zen Master of fly fishing. Watch him cast a few times and you will say, "I want to do that." In a one hour lesson, he teaches the basics of casting. Plus a few tricks. Great feedback. Great encouragement. Super convenient location at the Orvis pond. Kids fed trout and watched. I'll return for a half day lesson next Spring.

Excellent class-- Great Instructors and fantastic facilities
Jun. 2017 • Solo
I took the 2 day Fly Fishing boot camp at the Orvis School. I found the class very very good and quite enjoyed it. The instructors clearly were highly experienced and were very interested in making sure each student was properly attended to. The class is a mixture of lecture, hands on and some video taping. After spending the two days in class I feel my confidence level and skill went up quite a bit, particularly in casting. Of course Fly Fishing is an ongoing education but with the boot camp under my belt I feel comfortable enough to go hit the streams.

If you have been thinking about taking up Fly Fishing-- and want an easy way to quickly get up to speed this class is for you. My advise- spend the money and take the class. It will make all the difference when you hit the water on your own.

Anniversary gift to my husband

Hubby took the 1 day class while I hit the spa. He absolutely loved it. Spent his free time reading the book and practicing knots. We went back to use the 20% coupon to get him his own equipment. He loved the instructor and really had a memorable day.

Outstanding in every way - facility, instructors, schedule, even lunch!
May 2016 • Couples
My husband and I attended the 2-day fly fishing course May 6-8, 2016. I have no experience fly fishing, and he has only been one time for 4 hours with an Orvis-Endorsed guide in S.E. Oklahoma. This class was outstanding in every way - the staff (Truel and Forest), the indoor classroom, the practice areas, the course schedule, the equipment provided for instruction, even the lunch that was provided both days. In addition, the sales staff at the Orvis store were knowledgeable and went out of the way to be helpful with our post-course equipment purchases. Also, our instructors were both kind enough to help us choose the best equipment for our specific needs. Our entire experience was A+++. We are looking forward to attending additional classes in the near future. Check out all their class offerings on the Orvis website. This school is a Class Act!

bad experience
Aug. 2015 • Family
We spent half a day trying to catch some fish, beginning of august, but there were not any.
We have been told by the Orvis people from the school with on us on the boat, that at that time of the year there are only fishes at the sunrise and sunset, and that we should have been told...It was 10 am.
When we finished and had to pay. We told the boss about how it was, he did not even looked at me...

First class!

The team at Orvis put together a class that combined tying, casting and fishing in the school pond for our five children. Great facility and top-notch staff. Highly recommended!
