The estate and grounds are grand; quite the accomplishment of Robert Lincoln, son of the President, who became a captain of industry after the Civil War. For anyone who has an interest in President Lincoln and his family, this is a MUST visit. Full of Lincoln memorabilia and the story well told about the family and all of its tragedies.... More

During our weekend stay at Landgrove Inn in Landgrove VT we took a ride into Manchester. It was a cold day! Snow on the ground.... but we bundled up. We have driven by it many times thru the years and finally decided to go. So glad we did. You pull onto the grounds and park. Go into the gift shop,... More

Fantastic! We were staying in Manchester VT on a hiking/skiing/site seeing trip, and wanted to check out the local attractions. Hildene was a short drive, and well worth the trip. If you enjoy history and taking a quick step back in time, then Hildene is a must. The story of the Lincoln family is not only interesting, but informative. Be... More

We visited on Black Friday, 2016. This wasn't the best time to visit as it was rainy, cold, and the fog was as thick as pea soup. However, no regrets as the self-guided tour of the Lincoln Home and Pullman Palace Car made it worthwhile. Although the tour is self-pace and guided, There are friendly and well-informed guides who provide... More

We learned SOOO much with our visit to HILDENE. But what may make HILDENE more interesting is the Community Based Society which "saved" Hildene, restored it to glory, and manages its use/marketing so that it will endure for YOU to visit. HILDENE is a wonderful stop on your trip to VERMONT. Enjoy your visit !!

This is the summer home of Lincoln's only surviving son, Robert Todd Lincoln. Lincoln had four sons and all but one died at early ages. Robert built this home in 1905 and lived here until his death in 1926. Robert's last surviving child died in 1975, ending the Lincoln line. None of Robert's children had children. The house is filled... More

Hildene is a must see spot in Southern Vermont, I've driven by the entrance for years and finally had the time to explore it's charming grounds and mansion. I opted to take the guided tour for a little extra money and am I glad we did! We lucked out to get Eric as our tour guide and he was EXCELLENT!!... More
