Cool Vantage Point

Nice statue on the patio of Champlain College. Champlain the statue surveys the lake he is named for and the view from this spot on the hill is awesome.

I went to this statue and it was solid. You can smack your hand right on it, not too hard so you don't wreck it, but it is SOLID. It is not like cheap, imitation statues made elsewhere. I commend the hosts at Champlain Coll for doing it right. No need to drive 3-4 even 5 hours to see a... More

Lovely momument to the explorer who explored Lake Champlain, Burlington, VT and Quebec. During his time, things were not written down so not much is known about him.

I love history, so anything like this is right up my alley. If you are in the area, stop by. It's beautiful.

This statue is just inside the campus of Champlain College, easily accessible from the Maple Street archway entrance. The bronze Samuel de Champlain is caught peering through a spyglass at the lake - a moment of quiet but intense observation: a pose comfortable with history, yet rich with appropriate symbolism for a college campus. You can also gaze at the... More

I don't really think of this statue as a destination, but I guess if you are touring the hill section in Burlington, it's worth a stop. Champlain College is a beautiful campus in the hill section and has many old Victorian houses for dorms.

This statue sits on the campus of Champlain College. It is not the typical explorer kind of statue as a figure with a out stretched sword or flag. Instead he is kneeling and looking through a periscope towards Lake Champlain. It is a interesting piece of art.
