It is a 15 miles round trip and 4422 feet elevation gain. It is very hard trail but not dangerous. Be prepared and you will be OK. We went 15 July 2016, saw spectacular wild flowers and amazing mountain goats. It is a wonderful experience!

This is a strenuous hike but well worth it. There are many great stops along the way like Emerald Lake and First Falls. PLEASE do not hike Mt.Timp if you are out of shape or unprepared. A lot of people suffer from dehydration, altitude sickness, and heat illnesses on this hike if they are not prepared. I love this hike... More

This hike lived up to and exceeded our expectations. We had heard from the locals that the hike was the best in the area, featuring an excellent view of Salt Lake City from the mountain and gorgeous wildflowers. My father, brother, and I hit the trail at 7:00 in the morning with our hiking boots laced up and snacks in-tow.... More

This is a spectacular hike but very strenuous. We started at the Aspen Grove trailhead at 7:30 am and kept a moderate pace. The first mile + is paved but then there is varied terrain, some with exposure (drop offs to the side). We reached the saddle at 12:30 pm, and looking up the trail saw more exposure on the... More

We began our hike at 2 am and I'd never do it differently. We started from the Timpanooki tail head, which I heard is the easier route, but let's face it, a mountain is a mountain! Bring head lamps if going at night. The moon was full, but there are a lot of trees for the first few miles which... More

We hike this trail as often as we can and it never ceases to thrill. Don't go on a weekend if you can help it. Lots of BYU students and just more traffic than we prefer . . . but if you don't have an option, hike it anyway. If you possibly can, make a day of it and go... More

This is a fairly strenuous hike if you go to the top. Any of the trails are beautiful and worth hiking as far as you can. I hiked to the top again in late June 2015, during a hot spell of weather. It was probably the first of my many times on the top that it was not a bit... More
