These places are great but they are not close to Kanab as most are saying. You have to go to two different routes to get to either one. North Coyote Buttes is on the way to Page Az from Kanab and takes at least 45...More

We made mistake of forgetting to put sun cream on our calves. Everywhere else we did but not legs. We got so so burnt. The drive on dirt road is long (about an hour) however easy in dry weather. We had high clearance but parked...More

The best known place in the Vermillion Cliffs is 'The Wave'. Only, you need a permit to get there. And that's the problem as these permits are hard to get. Much easier is the procedure with the South Coyote Buttes. You need to be online...More

I was lucky enough (or maybe quick enough) to grab 4 permits to South Coyote Buttes through the on line application process for a hike at the end of May. This area is incredibly beautiful with such unique landscape you'll be hard pressed to find...More

Went to Cottonwood Cove with Paria Outpost guide Steve and a couple from NY city.. You really need a guide to reach this area - lots of soft sand on the backroads (no cell service), and once there, you must navigate a maze of bizarre...More

Beautifull place, but difficult to reach. AWD and experienced guide required. Just like the permit to the area.

I can't find a Starlight Ranch, either. We stayed at the Zion Mountain Ranch twice and liked it a lot. It's huge and you can wander around there if you have some spare time. Not in Kanab, but not too far, either. We hired... More

There is not a great deal to see there, a few nice earth shops, and restaurants, but a place worth a visit just outside town, 5 miles north on Hwy 89 is the Moqui cave, which is certainly worth a visit. See moquicave website
