This museum is all about the trip which was made by John Powell to explore the Green and Colorado river in 1869. Your visit starts with a movie and afterwards you can explore the museum. Toilets outside on the corner. Museum shop with friendly staff.

Enjoyed the dioramas. The displays and lectures were very interesting. I thought that I knew very little about John Wesley Powell but realized his significant Place in history after watching the movie.

We found this to be a well done museum. We especially enjoyed the dinosaurs and boats in the basement. It gave a nice break from driving. There is also a nice gift shop with pretty Indian jewelry. We found the staff helpful for future stops...More

Very well kept and informative Museum about the area. We enjoyed our visit and it was worth the $12 Senior admission for 2. Very friendly and helpfull staff. I would think children may be a bit bored, but there are cool things to see too.

Scott H is certainly giving you a good start. Also see if you can contact any other authors on Mr Powell who are still extant and get their suggestions. You need the opinion/reviews of people who have written about his life... More
