The museum is located right on the river - so the experience starts before you even go inside. The bas relief on the outside of the building shows the explorer's boat going down the river and the mesas and cliff to the side. It will stop you in your tracks. Go just a bit farther and you will be in... More

It's got a lot of great information. If you're at all interested in south west history, or river running this is a great place to spend a few hours. It has a lot of fascinating info about the John Wesley Powell expeditions. It's also the river runners hall of fame. and has some great dinosaur specimens.

Lots of good information on a generally forgotten part of American History. A little confusing set up as it seems to not be too linear in progression. Hard to follow. But again, well worth a visit if in the area. Admission covers a whole week if you want! Very nice staff. We learned a lot about an important step in... More

This museum was recommended to us by a geologist who regularly visits the area. We did not expect to be impressed, but decided on a visit. We were blown away - for a small museum, it is EXCELLENT. This area of Utah has a unique history and the discovery of the area, the history of the people who settled and... More

This Museum is a great place for children and well as adults to re-live the John Wesley Powell River Trip. Lots of artifacts and venues to illustrate the hardships and adventures Powell and his crew ran into while they explored the untamed West. Great place to spend the afternoon.

What a charming museum run by lovely ladies who are knowledgeable of the history surrounding them. Informative movie presentation of John W. Powell & his men explaining their exploration and their trials they weathered to reach their discoveries. The Visitor's Gift Shop is a MUST for your souvenirs & reasonably priced so you may buy quality merchandise to give or... More

this museum is really interesting. Don't miss the award-winning film and the replica boats downstairs. The stories about the expeditions are amazing, especially that John Wesley Powell was missing an arm and that most of the men survived. The museum is easy to get there and very well maintained.

Fascinating exhibits, give yourself at least an hour to read the displays of the amazing explorers of the Green River, especially one-armed, Union officer John Wesley Powell..
