Read and bring the description of the trail and you will be OK. Follow the cairns down the steep first part from the Egypt car park and at the bottom note where you came down for your return. Follow the cairns. Keep looking back. Do...More

We probably would have spent more time at the cathedral except that it took us so long to find it, we worried we might take too long getting back to our car. As it was, it took 7 hours. Some guide books say 4 hours....More

We saw very few other hikers and the reason for this became very clear. The hike is long, exposed and very hot. The payoff at the end is nice, but not amazing as the water at the end is stagnant and scummy. The river just...More

This is by far my most favorite hike with the intermittent water to cool off, the incredible vistas, and the shocking bright green of the quakies in the canyon. I've been here three times and each is a different experience.

It is NOT easy to get to... but the payoff is so worth it. The Hole in the Rock road is rough, but there is a lot to do down there... Be careful on the hike, it is not well marked!

This is one of my favorite hikes. After a drive out of Escalante and then 20ish miles down Hole in the Rock Road and another 10 down the very rough Egypt Road, you arrive at the Egypt Trailhead. Now it is about a 10 mile...More

Still worth the trip to just see the Cathedral, but prepare, train, learn, and just do all of Neon canyon and rap into the Cathedral.

A wonderful surprise in a short side arm of the Escalante River. You might even see someone rappelling down through the natural bridge.
