Living nearby this is an excellent place for a visit and the mountains are beautiful. There is a roadside picnic area on the north side for parking for a picnic. Watch out for the busy highway nearby and kids or pets don't get loose.

I have been driving this road on a regular basis for years and am still fascinated with the view. Definitely stop at the lookout on the north side of the road and soak up the view, as it's fantastic!.

Driving the devils backbone is always a nice drive and a good way to view all the Natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. No matter the time of year, it's beautiful!

I've driven this many times between Wimberley and Blanco, always marveling at the beauty of the Texas landscape. There is nothing like this in the spring with flowers in boom - roll your windows down for the fragrant breeze !! There's a beautiful little park...More

The stretch of road is very short and there's nowhere you can stop to look at a view except this little park with a high chain link fence that has odd memorials of locks, crosses, and other things in memory of loved ones who died....More

We drive this route between Fredericksburg and San Marcos, TX , frequently. Rt. 32 is a good, paved , mountain road. It crosses Devils Backbone and provides beautiful views of the Texas Hill Country. However, we have noticed the vegetation is overgrown and actually blocks...More

I see your question was answered accurately. If you are looking for some more scenic driving Canyon Lake is very close. After you cross the backbone continue on Ranch Road 32 toward Blanco. Shortly RR 3424 appears, take... More
