Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 12pm-4pm. River Bend Nature Center (RBNC) is a 20 acre, non-profit environmental education facility. River Bend connects people to their natural environment through educational activities, environmental awareness, and conservation examples. Our most popular attractions are the Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, Peyton’s Place, the Bryant Edwards Learning Center, the River Bottom Forest Trail, and the United Children’s Garden. Peyton’s Place is filled with flowering plants and hundreds of gorgeous, living butterflies. The Bryant Edwards Learning Center contains over 30 live exhibits, such as turtles, salamanders, insects, and frogs. There is always plenty to see and observe! The Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, 7,000 sq. ft. glass structure. It is home to prairie dogs, fish, turtles, and butterflies, and is landscaped with prairie grasses, trees, shrubs, and wildflowers of the Rolling Plains. RBNC has over 17 acres of bottom land forest, trails, gardens, and wetlands. Come on out and see River Bend Nature Center, it is truly a special place to explore and learn.

The wonderful staff goes the extra mile to make your visit informative. While the exhibits are small, one can certainly get an idea of the native species. Loved the road runner, and the butterfly house. Schools seem to make good use of the facility, as...More

This is a great place to take a child or a date. There are volunteers on site who are very knowledgeable. The specimens in the vistitor's center are interesting and the outdoor garden is full of observation possibilities.

Get close up to many animals here. The roadrunner has a thing for shoes, and kept pecking at ours, but he can't hurt you. Be sure to go into the butterflies if it is a sunny day!

Took my great grandchildren here just for something to do on spring break last year and was pleasantly surprised at how they enjoyed the tour. The helpers were very knowledgeable of all exhibits and helpful. I highly recommend the nature center for all ages.

I've never been for the regular tour but the Christmas Electricritters (I think I spelled that close) was great for the small children.

It is most pleasant especially as my grandchild shares his experiences with me. We both get a great kick eine there.

Not much to see really. But a nice short outing with young children. The staff were truly very friendly. I did enjoy the walking paths.

This is a wonderful experience for all ages. The special educational programs for kids are particularly good. Don't miss the Electricritters during Thanksgiving - Christmas holiday.
