A great museum showcasing Texas history. Fabulous exhibits and great staff. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth it. Allow several hours just to see...the adjacent park will take a bit more time on top of that Highly recommend a visit.

Once again we attended the Signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence celebration at Washington on the Brazos State Park, and once again, they did a remarkable job in site of a rainy weekend. Although this lessened the crowd for the event, it was a great time to be a Texan! The Parks and Wildlife Department do a fantastic job... More

If you know nothing about Texas pioneer history in 1836, you will learn all you need to know at this one museum. If you have visited several Teas history museums, there is still more to learn. I have visited about 12 different pioneer museums in Texas, and I still learned about 6 new facts on my visit here. There is... More

Our family loves this museum! We go once a year to visit it. It never gets old! Great historical pieces with excellent write-ups. A great school field trip or family field trip. Highly recommended for old and young alike.

This is a fun little two-level museum if you're a Texas history buff. It was arranged logically and sufficiently and covered all the relevant historical eras. The exhibits and displays were what you expect when you go to a museum. It really would be more exciting for people who already have an interest in pioneer history or Texas history. There's... More

Learn about the history of the republic of Texas. From the original Native American inhabitants to the fight for independence from Mexico. They also have a lot of information on what life was like in the 1800, such as carpentry equipment, medical instruments and such. It really is worth the time.

This museum is perfect. Everything about it is wonderful. It's quiet and well laid out, and the kids found it interesting and fun, not stuffy and boring. We didn't have much time since we arrived late in the afternoon, so I know there are probably a lot of things we missed, but we did enjoy everything we saw. The staff... More

This is a very informative history of our Texas past with nice displays that are easy to read. I especially liked the timeline on the wall by the ramp that leads to more displays upstairs. It really puts the past in perspective. We did not watch the 20 minute move so will have to go back to do that.
