- SimonBLondon, United Kingdom14 contributionsTEXAS RANGER HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUMThis is an excellent museum with many fascinating exhibits. It's hard to imagine anything better or more comprehensive on the life and times of the Texas Rangers. It's well worth stopping by if you're passing through.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 November 2023
- MartyParty4Houston, Texas1,805 contributionsGreat museum!Always wanted to stop in here and learn all about the Texas Rangers. The museum is nicely done and has a quite lengthy film to view which is very informative. We enjoyed walking throughout the museum reading all the exhibit info and viewing some of the beautiful artwork. There is also a gift shop at the end.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 January 2024
- Wander70758121 contributionsEnjoyed the museumGreat place to see history of the Texas rangers. Recommend the movie which is 45 minutes long. It needs to be updated but does a great job explaining the beginnings to recent past. Great exhibits but a lot of reading to get full context. Free parking and next to visitor center.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 January 2024
- Team_Flappa_2010103 contributionsMust See - Tour of Texas VisitStopped by on our journey from Austin to Dallas, museum was very quiet on the day we visited. The exhibits are well presented and interesting. If you are mildly patriotic this place is a must see - guns guns and more guns. Take a visit !! from a Welsh (UK) visitorVisited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 21 March 2024
- Mike K248 contributionsGreat MuseumI was very excited to visit this museum and I was not disappointed. There is so much to see and read. Be prepared for that. If you are a law enforcement fan or a gin fan, this place is for you. I learned a lot here. Loved the exhibits on Frank Hamer, the man responsible for putting an end to Bonnie and Clydes murder spree.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 April 2024
- ChiefsQBdadAdelaide, Australia138 contributionsLove of western historySunday in Waco can be quiet (closed for religion ?). Walked along the Brassos river to the museum. Modest entry fee. Lots to read and see. Good details on the main history and a comprehensive movie , 25mins, with many guns on display.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 April 2024
- Libby W96 contributionsGreat History MuseumVery nice museum and well done. Lots of artifacts. There is a 45-minute movie that you can watch. It's well done but seems like it could have been cut shorter. Enjoyed seeing the Bonnie and Clyde displays. If you like history and/or guns you will like this museum.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2024
- Jen WFenton, Michigan345 contributionsGood balance of history and memorialsThe museum has quite a few artifacts and presents the life of a ranger very well. The beginnings of the Texas Rangers was particularly interesting to me. The movie was also good, but a bit long. We were told they are getting a new (and shorter) movie soon. Most of the museum was memorials for fallen rangers. I was impressed by this devotion to the memory of those that served.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 April 2024
- Paul C3 contributionsGood Experience! It was interesting to learn about the history of the Texas Rangers although before we went, my wife was wondering why I was interested in a baseball team LOL. We were there about 2 hours and both of us enjoyed all the different exhibits. Don’t miss the documentary film about how and why the Rangers were originally formed. It is about 40 minutes long and runs every 2 hours or so.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 May 2024
- BakerBlakely, Georgia491 contributionsA Great MuseumFirst time here. If you're interested in the Texas Rangers or just Texas and U.S. history, you'll enjoy the displays here. There is an optional 40 minute documentary about the Rangers. Even if you're just into historic guns, you'll like it here. They have one of the automatic rifles used to take down Bonnie and Clyde. The display of historic badges is amazing. Give yourself 45 minutes to an hour for a self-guided tour and don't forget the gift shop at the end. The Texas Rangers Hall of Fame is really nice. Many exhibits to look at different heroes. I highly recommend this museum and I'll be coming back.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 May 2024

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is located adjacent to Baylor stadium. It highlights the development of the Texas Rangers from Stephen F. Austin's colonization or Texas through today, even reviewing some events which were embarrassing at the time and more so today. Great way to spend a hot summer afternoon.
The exhibits are carefully cataloged and tell the story not only of the Rangers as a group, but of individuals and family groups dedicated to the tradition of keeping others safe. The website says to plan at least 90 minutes for the Museum; I suggest allowing a couple of hours or more. There's just a lot to see and read. Everything from clothing and equipment used by early Rangers, to equipment for the modern Rangers, to a 45 minute History Channel documentary on the most famous law enforcement agents in the world. Even the German Army in WW2 feared rumors of an invasion force of Texas Rangers!
Add this place to your bucket list. You won't be disappointed.

If you're into Texas history, then this is a place you must visit. There is a vast history of the early years of the formation of the Texas Rangers, many incredible displays and personal momentos of several of the key early figures in Texas history that helped create the mystique of the organization, not to mention an incredible display of period handguns and rifles.
Plan on spending at least 1/2 a day, and try to leave the young kids at home if you have that option so you will have less of a distraction and can explore at your own pace. Not the museum's fault, but there's really just no way you can incorporate a lot of kid interactive material in a setting like this, and there can and still needs to be things for adults to do.

This is the official State Hall of Fame and Museum for the Texas Rangers. The museum's artifacts illustrate the history of the early years of the Texan Rangers - firearms, tack and personal gear. There are around 30 Rangers honored in the Museum.

Obviously, this museum covers the history of the Texas Rangers, which starts before Texas was a Republic or even joined the United States. Great displays with vignettes of western scenes. Loved the Western bronze art and the paintings. A 45 minute episode from TV program on the History Channel which showed the good and the bad history of the Rangers. Loved the gallery focusing on The Lone Ranger with artifacts from a serious collector. Lots of free parking, a nice Visitor's Center in the same parking lot, and a historic graveyard next door.

As one of the longest law enforcement agency, the Texas Rangers have a long rich history. There are many displays and artifacts of famous Rangers and firearms and equipment used. If you're a firearms enthusiast, you will find many impressive custom 1911s and revolvers which were carried by Rangers. Be sure to catch the video presentation which is about 45 minutes long which is worthwhile. For Lone Ranger and Walker, Texas Ranger fans, yes, there is a section with memorabilia and pictures. Whether you're in law enforcement or not, I recommend visiting this museum.

Prior to visiting the museum my knowledge of the Texas Rangers was The Lone Ranger movies I watched as a kid. The video presentation is very informative for an overview of who they are and what they do. I have new admiration for the people who are Rangers and what they do. You will get your fill of old west history and see lots of guns and western paraphernalia.

This museum has really done a great job of showing the history of the Texas Rangers. It has a lot of well preserved artifacts and great exhibits to see. Also, a very informative 45 minute video that gives the history of the Rangers. Fun for all ages.

But I did enjoy the paintings, sculptures, and period clothing.
If you're interested in the Texas Rangers, antique weaponry, or Texas history, then you'll love this museum. It's not huge. Plan 45 minutes for the museum plus another 45 minutes for the documentary.
No specific oversized vehicles parking, but doable if the parking lot is not overly crowded... And if your rig can fit into 2 parking spaces.

Like everything along I-35 in Waco, it is currently difficult to get to the museum because of road construction. Admission was $7. They show a 45 minute film every 90 minutes. It is worth sitting through. It took us an hour to wander through the museum. There was lots of Ranger memorabilia spread out over several rooms. They had quite a bit of Frank Hamer stuff and guns taken from the Barrow gang. They had a room dedicated to the Lone Ranger. There were lots of interesting paintings depicting historical events. Also painted portraits of rangers. They had quite an impressive gift shop with lots of books. I asked and was able to speak to one of the historians about an ancestor who was a Texas Ranger. He was able to find a little bit of information on him.

I was excited to learn more about the Texas Rangers and their history. The museum is set up to allow you to browse through at your pace and we did. Even the 10-year-old was interested enough to let the adults take their time to read through the informative displays.

Is the museum open on Thanksgiving day?

Hi, funseeker0780. What would you like to know about this attraction? My son is almost ten. Is this good for a big kid? Any nearby attractions worth visiting? Thanks
Written 14 March 2018
This would be good for middle school age kids and up. I think that younger kids may find this boring. I’m not aware of any other attractions in that area.

I have quiet 4 pound dog in small gym bag type carrier. Would it be ok to bring him with me?
Written 18 June 2017
Did not see signs regarding pets. If you have a service dog there are most likely no restrictions. Other wise call the museum to ask.
Written 4 July 2017
how much time should we plan on to visit the museum?
Written 18 October 2016
We spent a couple of hours at the museum, but you could spend all day! If you want to read all the information provided it could take you all week!
