Great little zoo!
Jun. 2021
Lots of shade and indoor A/C areas, but you will still get hot during the summer, bring water and wear sunscreen. Don't miss the red barn building which has nocturnal animals... most people walked by without realizing it was an exhibit with lots of animals you rarely see. The indoor cafe is closed, but the treetop cafe was open with a few covered outdoor seating options. There was ice cream, snack and drink vending machines near the giraffes exhibit, but you can also bring in food and snacks. We did it all in about 3 hours. Head to Jake's Texas Tea house a short 5 minute drive. Kid's meals come in paper Cadillacs (skip the shakes here and order pie!) Gift shop was not as impressive as the Mayborn museum.

Neat little zoo
Jun. 2021
Our girls trip included a trip to this zoo. We were impressed with the variety of the animals here. The food stand was reasonably priced and good food.

What a great little zoo!
Jun. 2021 • Family
Took my wife and 8 month old on a day trip from Austin. Found a great parking spot, unloaded our stroller and walked right in with a minimal wait. Got a 50% discount for being a member of a partner zoo (which is awesome) and brought a small cooler with us. The zoo is well maintained with educational signage everywhere and a very friendly staff. I loved the amount of water fountains and bottle refill stations as well as the benches and shade. It made a hot Texas day much more bearable. Animals were active, but some enclosures seem a little small (especially Jaguars) which may have to do with the size of the property. We took about 2 hours to get through. Well worth a visit.

ADA accessible; Great animal variety!
May 2021 • Solo
This is a small, but enjoyable zoo. Anyone who enjoys looking at animals will find almost all of their zoo favorites here: lions, tigers, bears, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, moneys, snakes and more!! It is well laid out and easy to navigate, with the entire facility being ADA accessible! There are lots of picnic areas, pavillions for cooperate gatherings, and outdoor play areas for the kids. HINT: bring your own food and drinks. Offerings inside the zoo and limited at best and expensive.

First time

Not the largest animal collection, but the setting is amazing! Lots of trees and great trails - well shaded with lots of water settings. We did not have young children with us, but they had several places along the way for them to play and enjoy. I go to zoos all over and this is a really beautiful one!

Fantastic day at the zoo
May 2021 • Family
This was such a nice zoo. It's small compared to some, but it is so well manicured. All the animals seemed happy and healthy, and all the exhibits were very clean. It is mapped out so well, if you follow the path, it takes you in a well organized circle. We walked the entire zoo with a 3 year old in about 3 hours. They gave incredibly nice educational tid bits at each exhibit and the way the enclosures are set up you sort of get a 360 degree visual almost guaranteed to see all the Animals. I love the running water feature that seems to go through most the exhibits giving the animals fresh water at all times. The lemur and monkey islands were really cool and are a very nice touch to the open air zoo experience. Highly recommend that if you are in Waco that you take a few hours out of your day to check out this really fantastic zoo.

Zoo with themes
Mar. 2021 • Family
I liked how the zoo was family friendly and had themes in the different areas. The sea life area had a ship as the design of the building. There were also a variety of animals. The only thing that was concerning was the high amount of vultures everywhere. Not sure if they are native to the area. But overall an ok zoo to take kids.

Nice zoo!
Sep. 2020
This is a well maintained, well run zoo with lots of animals. Animals appear to be in good condition and well taken care of, some place you go and feel guilty, these animals generally have lots of room and entertainment activities. Only criticism is that although the park tries a lot with shade - it's still Texas - use extreme caution going in summertime. This is a great trip for 3 seasons, and an iffy trip in summer.

Great Zoo.

What an Amazing Zoo!!! The baby orangutan was so entertaining and really engages with you. We came here right when it opened, barely no people. We had some great photo opportunities and time with the animals. Due to it not being crowded. Definitely, an amazing experience.

Decent zoo, not worth planning a trip around. Fort Worth zoo is definitely much more exciting

Not horrible, but not really the best zoo either. Staff were friendly, indoor areas were super crowded, paths were kinda tight to get through at times. Pretty small and not a lot of concessions. Enclosures were small and lackluster and quite a few animals were off display due to covid. Cheap at only $25 for 2 adults though! Wouldn’t recommend a drive out of the way to visit but not a bad place if you need something to do while in town! Magnolia market and the dr pepper museum are probably better visits.
