About
Balcones is a grain to glass distillery conveniently located in downtown, Waco, the heart of Texas. We craft many unique whiskies and spirits, all of which have received worldwide recognition. Our flagship whisky, '1' Texas Single Malt, is our pride and joy, made using quality Scottish barley and aged in premium oak barrels. Balcones distills all of their beloved whiskies inside the historic Texas Fireproof Storage Company building in Waco, Texas. At its heart are four copper pot stills built by the best artisans in Scotland. You can now visit and tour the facility, with tastings and events held regularly, and see why Balcones is always Distilled to Appreciate.

- Brian CSpring, Texas4 contributionsA definite stop in Waco.Our daughter is attending college in town, and whenever we make a trip to visit her, we make a trip to Balcones. Last Friday we stopped by and had a tour and tasting. Aryn was our guide. She was very informative, and knowledgeable in the craft. They always seem to have special bottles at the distillery. This trip they had lots of Rum. The single malt whiskey is what I go for, but I ended up taking home the rum. Will be back in a few weeks. - Tom M8 contributionsFun Time At Balcones Distillery's 15th Anniversary Celebration.I went with my wife to the Balcones 15th Anniversary celebration. We had a great time. We bought a couple of special 15th anniversary bottles. We got there early, so we both got a free commemorative tee shirt. Went outside and listened to some great music and had some nice barbecue at the Helberg BBQ food truck. Topped that off with a double scoop of salty vanilla bean at the Heritage Creamery truck. Other than the weather, raining on and off, we couldn't have gad a better time. It’s within walking distance from Magnolia. The guide was knowledgeable, entertaining, and friendly. I was alone, but having others in the tour group took away any awkwardness. Tour was a lot of fun! My partner is a whisky enthusiast so we knew a lot of the information beforehand but it's always super cool to hear the unique ins and outs of a specific distillery. Balcones makes our favorite bourbon, so it was really neat to hear where everything comes from. Truly Texas-made! We had a really lively tour group and a very knowledgeable guide, which only added to the fun. The tasting was AMAZING and we were able the keep the little glass. Kristopher and I stuck around after and purchased additional tasting flights to try even more of their spirits. 100% recommended for a couples day out!!

After my wife had her fun at Magnolia marketplace, it was my turn. Just 2 blocks down I found Balcones. Went to their tasting tent and got a four flight of tastings. Each one was very different from one another, which made my decision of which one to buy that much more difficult. I decided on the Brimstone. The smell and spiced finish of this whiskey was truly unique. If you like real bbq, you will appreciate this whiskey! Also bought some shirts and glasses as well! I would have bought more whiskeys but knew we didnt have the room in the suitcase. Cant wait ti share with friends and family. Thanks Balcones! Cheers!

My brother-in-law and I had a great experience touring Balcones Distilling. Chris was a fantastic tour guide, relating well with all the visitors and informing us about intriguing facts regarding the distilling progress. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time at Balcones! We did the Distillery tour and tasting. The experience was wonderful and would highly recommend. The guide was very informative when it come to talking about their process and guiding the tasting. The spirits were also great and well crafted.

Chris was a great guide and clearly knowledgeable about the Balcones distilling process. It was a fun tour even for those of us who really don’t know much about the distilling process. You get a good understanding from start to finish. The amount of the four tastes was just right. We tried a bourbon, a rye and two whiskeys( I think). Afterward, we could go to the tasting room and try their yummy 15% beer with honey. Good bakery across the street also!

While we were vacationing in Waco, we had heard of this place, so my son and I wanted to check it out. We did a flight or two to try out their products in which we did in fact buy a couple of bottles since we had a coupon. If you like distillers, you will probably like this place. I tend to call it a little trendy on the millennial side of things, but it is still ok. Give it a shot, and drink up,

There could not be a nicer more professional and friendly group of people in Waco. Every person we spoke to shared their knowledge of Balcones and everyone had a passion for what they do. Our tour was fantastic and informative. I would definitely recommend the tour and allow time to be educated on the nuances of Balcones.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. My wife ordered an old fashion with Texas Pot Still Bourbon and declared that it was her 2nd all time favorite old fashion. That’s saying something! She liked it so much, we bought a bottle of the bourbon.
I’m more of a beer guy, so I ordered a flight of the 4 beers on tap. My favorite was the Camp, a Vienna lager. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We had a great time!

Signed up for a tour and tasting for 4 of local distillery and multi award winning Balcones Distilling. Only $20 pp. We had the best time and learned so much - all in one hour - with wonderful Alexander as our guide. He hasn’t been there a whole year but he sounded like a founder; he was so knowledgeable. Big bang for your buck. Highly recommend!

The tasting room has something for everyone. I usually love a Texas Dove, but today I tried an Old Fashion with a vanilla syrup (from loyalhoodwaco.com) - ask for Hayden. It’s AMAZING!! I think this should be added to the menu permanently. They have tours as well.

Yes, but Visitor must be 19 to join any tour and must be 21 to drink any alcohol. Their website is only specific about age requirement to tour the distilling facilities.
