I love historical places and was intrigued by this civil war era site for detaining pows from that era...while I could feel the historical significance of the site and enjoyed the plaques along the walking trail, it would've been more interesting and cool in my...More

The reviews described it as run down but we found a very well marked historical site that captured POW history we did not know about. Well mowed grounds and nice trails. We spent 45 minutes reading the stories about the happenings at this Confederate controlled...More

1st visit to Texas and 1st visit to a civil war site. Historical sites are always hard to rate. This one has little documented history it appears. Still it has signage to help you learn and has some references between documented sites and current sites...More

Camp Ford is a real treat. The largest Civil War POW camp west of the Mississippi River. Solemn place of historical importance.

The pathways have degraded and the cabin torn down. No restrooms available. The woods are nice and there are random historical signs with nothing to see. Go for a nice walk but sad that Tyler doesn't take care of what could be a really nice...More

Great place for a 20+ minute history stop. Some recreated structures, some sketches of the original layout.

This is not something you see every day - the location of an actual prison camp for the Confederacy. There's a nice little information display...but not much else. Other than walking the grounds. Definitely interesting to history buffs, but that's about it.

This park is very interesting historically, but it is very noisy out there due to the high amount of traffic on the road that runs right next to the park.

This is a great park to learn facts about the Civil War and think about the thousands of soldiers held as POW. Over 5000 were imprisoned at Camp Ford. Lots of signs and good reconstruction. History will not be lost here. Easy to access.

When I was there that morning last October at about 10 AM there was no charge, no gate. No one on duty.
