Nice houses, walking distance to the beach, food, local shop keepers (some without actual shops.. But still pretty awesome) definitely recommend!

If you don't want the ritz and glamour and just want to enjoy a beautiful beach Surfside is the place to go! I love this beach. I love the small town feel of it. The lack of amenities I appreciate and that is why I prefer it. The main hotel is over priced. There are not many options for lodging... More

What a beautiful inviting place. You can drive on the beach, take your dogs for a walk on the beach, swim, fish or whatever else you like to do. Such a great place.

We rented a beach house in Surfside for Father's Day weekend. I had heard that this beach area was always called the "Poor Man's Galveston" but I thought we would give it a try anyhow. The house we rented was OK, but the tap water was undrinkable - be sure to bring lots of bottled water and do NOT even... More

Beautiful beach, miles of sand to walk on.. The only problem is : there might be too many people with cars and bikes on the beach .. which makes it difficult to walk.. Another negative is the lack of restroom. Otherwise, beautiful place, take a beach chair, enjoy the water and read a book/listen to your favorite music :)

I initially discovered Surfside Beach, Texas in 1970 with my family when I was in the 6th grade. After subsequently living in Florida, I did not think I could return with the same enthusiasm based on water clarity and sand consistency. That was 1988. Since, I have had a growing appreciation of what this fine destination has to offer. Breathtaking... More

We LOVED Surfside just spent a long Father's Day weekend there. Growing up in Miami, Florida and traveling to Destin for the last 8 years I would say we are kind of beach spoiled. So I was very worried and did a lot of research prior to finding a beach within a days drive. Such mixed reviews here and now... More

This was our first time visiting Surfside Beach. Overall, a great place. We will be back. Here are some tips that we learned. Before you go: 1. The beach is less touristy than Galveston. Pros include lower prices and less crowds. Cons: less restaurants and activities (no boardwalk or pier, etc.). 2. There are 2 parts to the beach: one... More
