Abnormal
Nov. 2021
Though nestled under the Texas sky surrounded by lovely trees and a nice tasting area, the sampling experience was abnormal for a place that is advertised as a premier tasting experience. Drinking 5 pours, dry whites and reds as well as a sweet one out of the same glass without ever rinsing each taste, much less not providing a glass of water in which to cleanse our palates between each at the price we paid was a disappointment

Laughable experience
Oct. 2021
We had to laugh after our visit to Pednerales Cellars. It was an amusing experience from the get-go.

The four us walk in on a mid-week early afternoon. "Welcome friends," the server loudly proclaims. (For the record, I had never met him and was not his friend). We are asked if we have a reservation. We look around and the tasting room is totally empty. We want to taste their wines and they want an email address and phone number before they will serve us. Why, I ask? You can always opt out when you pay was the response. I gave him fake email. Customers who arrived after us had the same reaction.

We look around and there's one comfortable seating area in the place with a sign that says "Wine Club Members Only." Now, what if I was 95-year-old invalid, could I sit down? What if I was a wounded Vietnam veteran?

The server was almost caricature. With a phony smile smile plastered to his face, he would focus his eyes into space as he searched for the wine descriptions he was told to memorize -- things like grassy finish and hints of leather.

There are a lot of mediocre Texas wines. They charge a lot to taste ($20) because they have the built-in Austin audience.

Pederanles, in my humble opinion, has pretentious service, run-of-the-mill wines and a ridiculous atmosphere. There are dozens of other wineries in the area. There are probably a lot like Pedernales. Best avoided.

The view is nice.

Pedernales Cellars is the winery to visit on your trip to Fredericksburg
Sep. 2021 • Business
Pedestals Cellars was by far the best winery we saw in the Fredericksburg area. The wine was outstanding, the atmosphere was exceptional, and the presentation by Erik was superb. The vibe and view alone would have me returning, but the wines really are the best - full of complex favors and diverse blends. Try them on your next trip to Fredericksburg. Plan to stay for several hours to do a tasting and just enjoy the total vibe. The property is a little off the beaten path but well worth the trip.

Disappointed
Jul. 2021 • Couples
My fiancé and I drove out to taste wines for our wedding dinner. We were very disappointed to be turned away, 45 minutes before their closing time due, even though not busy, to their rules of not serving guests for tastings less than one hour before closing.

Disappointed, we left to search for other Texas wines suitable for our wedding.

Great views, people and wine.
Mar. 2021
While visiting friends in Austin we paid a visit to Pedernales Cellars, a family-run boutique winery, in the Texas hill country. As they were members of this vineyard wine club, upon arrival we bypassed the tasting room and were escorted by a very knowledgeable and friendly young lady, to the small wine members club building. Where sitting in the shaded of its small covered patio, we enjoyed a bottle or two of their Texas-made tempranillo.
The view is quite spectacular, as most of their 140 acres overlook the graceful sweeping surrounding hill country.
There is a pick-nick area under the trees, with iron tables and chairs.

TIP: This is a great place to take the whole family as there is lots of room for the
children to play.

Great wine with a view
Apr. 2021
Even though we didn't have reservations, they were able to work us in for a tasting. The wine is great, the staff is friendly, and the tasting room has a beautiful view. I would recommend visiting but do try to make a reservation as they are trying to distance people and stay Covid safe.

Great wines and Erik and the education from him and the conversation the four of us had were more than with the visit

Nice views but overall just okay
Mar. 2021 • Couples
The views were good; the wine was fine; the food was positively mediocre. We ordered a cheese plate and prosciutto and it literally came wrapped in plastic similar to what you could buy at a grocery store. I wouldn't go back. The service was also just okay. I think the views were overrated - nice but certainly not breathtaking.
