More
Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds-- For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

This refuge for injured sea turtles operates entirely by donations, yet offers a wonderful service for threatened sea creatures. Staff is friendly and very willing to answer questions - many are volunteers. Certainly worth up to an hour of viewing, especially at feeding time.

The turtles were amazing. The center does incredible things to save injured turtles who otherwise would not have a chance of survival.

This place does an excellent job of informing the visitors about the declining turtle population. Can hardly wait for their new facility. Their goal is to rehabilitate them if possible so they can be returned to the Gulf. If that is not possible then they...More
