Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island",...

Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds--

For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

Grandkids loved seeing the turtle exhibits, Very educational. Nice gift shop. Donation only, I don't think it's mandatory. Also have a turtle hospital. They also are expanding, I think completion is in Aug. They could use donations. Every time we've gone, it's been a treat.

We have been going to Sea Turtle Inc for years. We love visiting all the tanks seeing what turtles are still there and which ones have been rehabbed and released. This year we were lucky enough to watch 2 early morning hatchling releases. Definitely worth the early morning alarm!

We loved seeing the turtles and reading their stories.....especially the story of Allison. We learned a lot on our visit The gift shop is nice, plenty of souvenirs to choose from. There is only air conditioning in the gift shop, but the turtles are all in the shade so it's not too hot. We love what they're doing to save... More

My family I enjoyed seeing the turtles up close as they are being rehabilitated. It's nice that they have people working there that can give you a back story on each turtles. You can tell they care about the turtlea. It was kind of sad watching these poor turtles struggling to escape their encloser, but understandable they cant survive in... More

Awesome experience! You can watch them attach a prosthetic flipper to one of the turtles who was injured by a shark and so much more! This is a great experience for all ages and the price is right! I highly recommend that you donate a little to help the turtles. When we went, they did not change an entry fee,... More

This was a highlight of our vacation! It is so interesting to see what they are doing to save the sea turtles! My niece adopted a baby turtle. We got information about the turtle releases and were fortunate enough to view one the last morning of our vacation! What an amazing experience!

Really enjoyed this little excursion. There is no fee to enter and they operate solely on donations. The turtles there are all rescued and hopefully able to release if not permanently disabled. We adopted a hatchling and had hoped to watch the release of the nest but they were not quite ready before we left town. Even so, it was... More
