Found this place by accident but it is a must for all aircraft buffs. It is run on a purely volunteer basis by guys that have flown these aircraft. Their knowledge is unbelievable. We were allowed to clamber inside the B25 bomber into the cockpit and the gunner areas of this fully functional flying piece of history. Fantastic. The museum... More

Took the family here and we all enjoyed it. They have several WWII era planes that they have restored (or ar restoring) and a museum area and small gift shop. We all found something unique and interesting here and each learned something from history that we did not previously know. So if you like history; or have a military connection... More

My daughter in law took me here. It was exciting. Actual WWII warplanes, and most still fly. You can get into, if you can, a Navy jet. Even a small museum and gift shop for browsing. The planes are beautiful. A real history treat. Fun for the whole family.

This a great place to see some of America's aviation history close up, and step inside a hangar that is the last of its kind in the USA. The people who run the CAF's Central Texas Wing do so with love and pride, restoring and maintaining the aircraft at was once part of the Gary Army Air Force base. If... More

Definitely an underrated place in San Marcos! Some great aircraft here, many of which are being restored to flying condition. I've gone several times, and it never gets boring. The volunteers working on the planes are always more than happy to show you around. Make sure to leave a donation, as this place is free but relies solely on generous... More

Unfortunately the museum was closed, my fault for not checking. However on went onto the website to check dates and hours and found a spectacular treat. Amazing website with plenty of photos and history.

This museum was so great for kids who love planes. The people there were so nice and took the time to answer all of the question of my 7, 4 and 2 year old nephews. Admission is free but they run on donations. All the planes there are operational and if you are lucky you can even watch the planes... More

This organization restores, preserves, and flies WWII era aircraft. There is an excellent museum and aviation library on site, and visitors are very welcome to mingle with the artificers and restorers. Donations are welcome but not required. This is a living history aircraft repair shop and flight operations center that is quite unique and is housed in an authentic WWII... More

I love airplanes and enjoy anything that involves airplanes. Been to the museum at CAF several times, looked at the many military aircraft that the Central Texas Wing have restored or in the process of restoring. Great for younger kids as they get to see some of the older aircraft and learn a little about military history. Central Texas Wing... More

Small but well layer out. Volunteers were VERY helpful & knowledgeable. Liked answering questions & pointing out the "gems" of the museum.
