The George Ranch Historical Park's history follows family lines beginning in 1824 and spans more than 100 years. Just 30 miles southwest of downtown Houston, the Park is located on a 20,000 acre working ranch featuring historic homes, costumed interpreters, historic food programs, school tours, group tours, event rental facilities and livestock. It's a living history partnership of the Fort Bend County Museum Association and The George Foundation.

The story of four generations of one family from the 1820s to the 1930s presented in historic homes by interpreters knowledgeable in local history with great demonstration. Unfortunately no functioning cafe or restaurant (present one being upgraded). Better to visit on cooler day! There is a well prepared trail to follow over a mile or so on foot or in... More

If you like history and/or if you're curious about life styles and habits of a bygone era, you will enjoy the ranch. There are four homes on the ranch, representing lifestyles of different generations; there is also an actual blacksmith who is very knowledgeable about his craft. Some of the "workers" are in period costumes to authenticate their roles. The... More

My family and I wanted to experience the Texas scenery (open land, horses, the ranch) and visited George's ranch. This place is very clean, well organized, worth the money you pay for. Will definitely go back every chance I get. My 9 year old loved it since he learned history about the ranch as well.

We came to George ranch looking for authentic Texas cowboy experience. We found the full history of Texas through one family lineage - since it's a personal story it kept us interested all the way until the end. Unlike other museums this historical park demonstrates every dot on the time line exactly as it was (their real personal houses and... More

I've been here a few times with my kids school field trips. I had no idea such a wonderful historical and educational place was so close to Houston. From seeing frontier life up close to a blacksmith to cowboys roping, this is a wonderful experience for anyone who loves history. Even those who don't will find something interesting here.

The best thing about the George Ranch Historical Park is that they do not stand still. Every year for Texian Market Days (YOU MUST GO) in October, you'll find an update, a new building, an expansion of an encampment. This is the best way to learn about history.

Part of the Fort bend Museum group. Learn the history of one prominent family that came to settle in Fort Bend from the 1830s thru the 1940s.Four different areas with houses from each era. Special events throughout the year to include "Texiana Days with historical reenactments.
