You can see the entire South Padre Island from atop this historic lighthouse, first lit in 1853. A replica of the lighthouse keeper's cottage is on the grounds.

We climbed all 74 steps to the very top and made it back down again. We are all older folks so are very proud of ourselves. The views from the top were wonderful. Someone needs to clean up the dead birds and bird poop however....More

We were on our way to the beach at South Padre Island and stopped here to check it out. The admission fee was nominal and the attendant there was friendly. The climb is 70-something narrow, spiraling stairs which wasn't a problem to climb for this...More

Only lighthouse on Texas gulf coast that visitors can enter and climb to the top for excellent views of the Laguna Madre Bay and Port Isabel.

Quite a confined stairway to the top, and it gets narrower as you go up. Windy at the top, but the view is amazing.

Well it’s beautiful on the outside. The thought of going in a lighthouse is very exciting. I think there needs to be some order in the people going up and down. The stairs are very narrow and steep. Kids running up and down. While some...More

On a sunny day the climb is very worth the view. Great view of the town, causeway and bay. The cost is $4 or $3 for seniors.

This is a quick stop along the road, but well worth it. We were not able to go up in the lighthouse, which was a bit disappointing, but the lighthouse is well miamtained. The small visitor center was informative.
