The grackles have taken over. Since I've not visited this birding area, I'm not sure if they are there due to Harvey and the destruction or not. There were a few ibis and a green heron. Hopefully everything will come together in months to come.

So impressed that someone thought to preserve this unique spot. We realize that leaf-cutter ants are a pest here, but we had never seen them. Had a magical time watching the industrious insects hauling little pieces of leaf around!

An amazing array of colorful birds. A good set of binoculars is a must. The birders with their huge cameras and safari hats are almost as much fun to watch as the birds themselves!

The pond is behind a restaurant & attracts a lot of birds. It is a delightful small area where one can bird-watch. The wooden trails are handicap friendly.

Well maintained boardwalks through the marshy pond area that provides awesome birding opportunities.....partially shaded, benches along the walks.

Were all the trees bulldozed down to make room for apartments? The herons use to have a nest there. Port Aransas is becoming nothing more than parking lots, bars and hotels. Such a waste! 😡😡😡😡

What a surprising little gem this is!! Quite small plot of land that has fresh water and brackish water, a variety of trees. small overlook. Warblers, buntings, thrushes, herons, ducks, cormorants, plovers, and many more species. Compact area but takes 2 hours to work through....More
