Interesting place to visit

Short, $12 trip across the channel. Had fun sitting in a chair watching the ocean and birds and crabs while the wife collected a nice variety of shells. A great afternoon. Found... read more

Good shell hunting, beach walking, wading and fishing! It is a very peaceful environment. We love to go over there every chance we get.

A quick boat ride. Greeted by lots of trash. Not quite what we expected. Id save your money. Crew was friendly, but be on time, they won't wait to get you back! I wouldn't think you'd want to spend more than an hour there

Three words.... This Place Sucks ! It breaks my heart to report that what you may be expecting will be quickly dashed by what you will truly find on the island. First, you are greeted by plastic water bottles, random trash, and decaying animal carcasses! Next, we found several large blue plastic barrels labeled as toxic chemicals. This is where... More

I was told that this was a fun place to see and pick up shells. When we got there, we were greeted with a very large area of plastic bottles. The rest of the beach area was strewn with produce - citrus, an onion, etc. Not a single shell any better or different than on the Port Aransas beach.

We decided to take the ferry over to San Jose one morning when we were looking for something to do in Port Aransas. The island has the potential to be a great little hidden jewel, but currently it is littered with trash and takes away from the beauty of it. The ferry leaves from Fishermans Wharf in Port A and... Lots of garbage on the beach. Spent 3 hours there. Seen some ships and people catching lots of fish.

While the idea of a private island is great, we expected it to be clean. Instead the beach and the jetty going into the gulf was full of trash. Surprising that trash pickup does not occur on a more regular basis. We enjoyed going to end of the jetty and watching the waves crash.

Short, $12 trip across the channel. Had fun sitting in a chair watching the ocean and birds and crabs while the wife collected a nice variety of shells. A great afternoon. Found out the island is full of cattle, owned by the Bass family from Fort Worth. This is a very private island, so you can only stay on the... More

It is $12 round trip. Lots of fisherman come here, but we do beachcombing. There is 7 miles of beach and hardly anyone there. Get your tickets at Fishermans's Wharf. The Jetty boat starts going over at 6:30 in the morning and departs every hour until after noon then every 2 hours. It returns 10 minutes after the hour. We... More

Love this island. $12 return trip but be sure to get the last boat back or you are spending the night. Beautiful long beach to walk on. Fishing is great . Also good place to dolphin watch. Well worth spending 2 - 4 hours here.
