We usually opt for Mustang Island State Park when we come to Port Aransas, rather than the public beach. It's less crowded, and surf fishing is easier there. Also, the changing rooms are decent.

We set up primitive camp on the beach. The weekend before had been windy so the beach was a bit churned up with lots of weeds on the beach. None the less, it was an enjoyable relaxing evening. The park staff was helpful, humorous and...More

Storm Cindy has brought in huge waves, the parking lot is flooded so you have to wade from your car to the beach. The small waves come all the way up to the picnic tables. Not sure if water is normally blue, buts it's brown...More

Really nice beach. Not many shells on the beach this time. A large amount of broken sand dollars. Was really a nice beach. Not extremely crowded.

Good access and parking. Wasn't expecting to pay $5 per person as most parks/beaches charge per vehicle, but... having covered tables with bench seats was nice and worth the $5. Unfortunately for us the water was choppy and the undertow a tad strong as you...More

I dinged it one star for no sewer hook up and no separate walking path to the beach. Yes, it's a big paved lot for RV's-but are you there to go to the beach or hang out in your RV?! For $20/night you get water...More

This park is nothing more than a large concrete parking lot. There is no natural growth. Any shade comes from picnic tables with a canopy built over them. There is no sewers at any of the sites all grey water has to be moved to...More

A beautiful stretch of beach with golden sands which is easily accessed from Corpus Christi. Would recommend carrying a beach umbrella as there were no shelters if I remember right.

The beach was very clean . Sand was hard enough for my hatch to park and drive around on the beach , trash cans available, restrooms, showers, only limited to your imagination, enjoyed a fire pit I dug out myself and camped right on the...More

Are the bathrooms and showers located downstairs at the visitors center or up the ramp?

The bathrooms and showers are closer to the electric campsites before the beach parking. The bathrooms are up stairs and the showers downstairs. This is a closed building and not the same as the beach showers that are simply... More

Are you able to park near the water's edge like you can at other beaches in the area? We like to back our SUV up to the water so the kids have a sort of base station and a bit of shade, is there a specific place at the park we can do this?

Yes you can but there are no hook ups-they call it their primitive camping area and you'll see everything from tents to cars to RV's! You can have campfires on the beach, too! Not at the RV park 👍🏻

If we are camping for two nights, can we leave our tent up the whole time with some belongings or will be they get stolen?

While we were there we tent camped and we didn't have any trouble with theft. We left and ate dinner out one evening and didn't seem to have any trouble. Now when we were there it wasn't very crowded and we didn't leave any... More
