A trip to the outdoors

The migration is on. Hummers by the hundreds maybe thousands to the area. Awesome place to visit! Many different birds to view in natural environment. Kids learning about these small, beautiful birds is important.

Great place to see most of south Texas birds, good people and good facilities. Went on short with a ranger and a group - he was knowledgable and we saw quite a few birds. Always look forward to going back!

Visited for the birding, which was good, but enjoyed the gardens, house and trails equally. Especially appreciated the thorough botanical labels. Nice sculptures and plenty of benches. John our birding guide was knowledgeable and personable.

This was a great day. There are benches and even swings at each feeding site, blinds behind which to watch kingfishers and a hawk tower! Tram service a great help to non-hikers, bikers, etc. early morning calls are cacophonous music to the ears..

Our visit to the bird center was disappointing because we did not see the birds we had hope to see. We saw a dozen green parakeets and a few other small we could not identify because they were to far away. The center has a nice set up walking paths.. Vegetation plantings to attract birds. It was just an off... More

Since we were moving to an area that was on the migration trails, we decided one Sunday to take a drive and explore the birding center. The center was a little deserted (it was early in the season). The staff are very friendly and know their information--just ask them a question! This Center has experienced massive flooding event in the... More

If you're into birds and butterflies, this is a must see stop on the Rio Grande Valley. Butterflies—different varieties almost daily—cover the flowering shrubs, and birds can be seen flitting from tree to tree, particularly early morning. Don't miss this great place, and don't be reluctant to go even in "bad" weather.

We were very disappointed with this attraction. We did see quite a few birds at the first feeding station when we entered the park, but after that we saw 3 birds in total. It may have had something to do with the weather we’re experiencing this year, so I’ll give them the benefit of doubt, but we sure wouldn’t recommend... More

The Rio Grande Valley offers 7 or 8 world birding centers, each one unique. Pack some cold drinks, a bite to eat and spend the day watching the fascinating wildlife.

Went to see it late afternoon as part of south tx birding network. Very small place. Manly water dowel species and artificial garden like design certainly not natural place but a garden with drip lines and large murky pond. Skip it unless bored and have nothing else to do
