I really enjoyed going here. The first problem is the rather irregular hours the place is open. As others have pointed out, it's only open at specific times for a guided tour. Also, because it is a guided tour of the place you only get to stay there for the 45min-hour tour. It was quite rushed in a way. Packed... More

We visited the site when we were in Palau. Unfortunately when we arrived at the facility it was closed. Apparently it has set hours and other times there is only a guide so that if he's giving a tour the office is closed and you have to wait We did take a walk around the facility and there are some... Well worth a look. A guided tour, currently €5 for adults, €2.50 for children, lasting 30 - 40 minutes. Tour given in Italian and English, apparently, but as we were the only visitors on the 10:15 tour, we only got the English! Tour guide was an historian and had been there for about 5 years, so knew the fort and... More

Interesting piece of Italian history and a stunning view, worth the climb! 171 steps (according to our guide) with a stopover halfway. Impressive granite boulders all over the area, massive and with rather strange shapes.

Well worth a visit if you are nearby. Excellent guided tour and interesting history behind this fortress that was built to defend against the French from the north. Beautiful and spectacular views of Palau, the islands on the other side, and on a good day, Corsica.

Fantastic views from the top of the fort. Yes there are a lot of steps but we were told to take our time and never felt under pressure to rush. Our guide, Roberto, was really good, spoke excellent English and made the tour very interesting. He must have given the same information many times on previous tours but his delivery... More

Tours are only done every hour. Guide was very knowledgeable and gave tour in Italian and English. Great views from the top. Lot of steps. We would have liked to stay longer to look around again at our own pace and also see parts which were not on the tour. But guide needed took the gate to go back for... More

We joined a walking tour of this fortress and it was great value for money and very interesting. The lady conducting the tour was great and handled our small group with doing two languages but we never felt left out. Great tour but be ready for some steps!

On the way you will find a big parking place where you can park for free - at least I did not see any parking automat. We wanted to visit the castel but they had only early morning guided tours and late afternoon tours. So the castel was closed. But you got a very nice view from the entrance to... More

A visit here is a must if you are in the area. If you enjoy photography, history or just enjoy spectacular views, this is for you. You have to join a guided tour which put me off at first, but as there was no option, we went along. The guide gave all info in Italian, followed by an English translation... More
