The history of Silesia now in Poland is comprehensively covered. The nostalgia for this lost province is palpable. There are superb exhibits

This is a medium-sized museum in the middle of Gorlitz dedicated to the history, crafts, and arts of Silesia, a region of central Europe. Presently, the region is considered part of Poland, but in the past various German states and Bohemia also included parts of...More

I only had 24 hours in Görlitz, and the Schlesisches Museum is a good first stop. You can view multiple painted wooden ceilings dating from the Renaissance in this multi-building complex. There are some amazing carvings to be seen, including a set of coal miner...More

A nicely designed museum in three historic houses with interactive displays. It is difficult for an English speaker to fully appreciate the displays as the signage is only in German and Polish.

It is very easy to get one's history of MittelEuropa muddled. This region is a cross-roads and the modern borders don't reflect the complex history of the area. This museum provides a good overview of the Silesian region, albeit mostly in German and Polish. The...More

I had the change to see only one museum in the city and this was my choice. This museum is interesting but contains almost no information in English therefore you should be aware that you won’t be able to read most of the stuff unless...More

Very well curated permanent exhibit in a lovely location that also provides a very nice overview of the main city attractions as it has some lovely views. When I was there, they had a rotating exhibit on Art Deco in Silesia which was ok but...More
