Great spot

This is a part of the Bermuda National Parks program, and the views over the Great Sound and Ely's Harbour are spectacular.

there's a bit of history recounted here (including a restored artillery piece that's the only one of its kind), but the real star is the view -- from here there are beautiful views of the waters on each side of the island, including ringside seats overlooking the bay where the America's Cup practices are going on. It was our favorite... More

The greenery and solitude of the view overlooking the Great Sound towards Hamilton offers a great spot to enjoy a take-away lunch that you picked up locally. The fort and the cannons offer a historical perspective of the defense of Bermuda. Don't miss the weather stone.

We discovered this Fort walking on the Railway Trail from Somerset. It was a beautiful clear day with fabulous views and lucky for us the boats were practicing for America's Cup. We had a packed lunch and sat enjoying the view and watching the boats.

Everywhere you look in Bermuda is beautiful but if you want to see the nest scenery on the island, you have to visit Fort Scaur. It is best to visit on a clear sunny day. There is not much to see at the actual site but the Vistas are just magnification and we'll worth the trip out to almost the... More

We were heading to Dockyard for lunch and stopped here to let the dog run around. The views are awesome and the history of the Fort is very interesting. We didn't go to the moat but will on our next visit.

This lovingly maintained Fort with its stupendous sea views was built by the British concerned that the victorious Union Army of the North in the American Civil War would seek revenge on Bermuda for standing with the defeated Southern Confederacy. The fort is beautiful with a grassy dry moat, surrounding ramparts, two 64 pound canons, as well as long views... More

The site is beautiful: lush green grounds on a hillside overlooking the ocean with well maintained ramifications and some idyllic picnic spots. The signage is adequate, but history buffs would get a lot more out of the visit with a knowledgable tour guide. You can access the fort by climbing a path up from the Railway Trail, but the big... Very interesting and enlightening. You can easily see why this spot was chosen to protect their harbor. Commanding view of all approaches. It has many informative photographic poster displays that show the fort over the years. There are tunnels and ramparts to explore if you are so inclined. Has benches to rest and restrooms that are well maintained.
