Our favorite time to visit this museum is when the animatronic dinosaurs are visiting (September - February). The dinosaurs are well-placed in the natural settings along a gravel trail (wagons/jogging strollers work best). They move and make sounds. Very neat for younger children. There are...More

We waked on about 3 miles of the Sanctuary's 5 miles of hiking trails. We saw the Prairie grounds area being allowed the return to a natural state. Inside the museum there were displays of snakes, rocks and gems, fossils, sea shells. Outside, there was...More

Had a wonderful experience hiking the trails of the Heard Wildlife Center. Great place to take kids and explore. We saw a doe and her fawn, just yards from us.

This was a last minute "what shall we do this morning?" decision with my boys ages 6 and 10. For me the website (on my phone) did not do justice to what we ended up experiencing but I'm ok with that as we were pleasantly...More

My wife, adult son, and I spent two to three hours walking around this wildlife sanctuary and observed snakes, lots of birds, frogs, turtles, etc. We especially enjoyed the trails around the lake.

We enjoyed a 2.5 mile walk/hike, where we saw water snakes and many types of turtles in the marsh (that we walked well above). The indoor exhibits were interesting, from the pre historic fossilized animals, to the live species of turtles, snakes, etc. Fun place...More

Hi! It's too bad the dinosaurs won't be there after Feb. 15, then I would have recommended the trail where the dinosaurs are places for sure, without them, it's a nice place to hike, not hilly, and there is a spot with... More
