This cool phenomenon is a must when in Marfa. We have visited numerous times over the past 25 years and have always seen the lights my great observation area with benches and toilets. Always meet people from around the world who have heard about the lights and have to see them for themselves.

If you go to Marfa, you have to try to see the lights. It is a mystery but as a spectacle seriously oversold. But it IS quick which is something.

Yeah, all we saw were headlights and dome lights from all the other tourists who came to the advertised highway pull-out to experience the Marfa Lights. We gave up after about 15 minutes. I wish we would have asked someone in Marfa where we might go park that would be more secluded.

I decided that I needed to go out and see what all the fuss was about regarding the Marfa Lights. Maybe I was unimpressed because it was so cold, or maybe a bunch of jumping lights out in the distance didn't quite impress me. It is a great place to photograph stars due to being out of town, but the... More

I have done this twice and it is great! The observation facility is very nice. A fun, quick thing to do and easily accessible.

Well, we TRIED TO SEE THE Marfa Mystery Lights..... we tried. We stopped by the observatory to use the restrooms and check things out on our way to dinner, FULLY PLANNING on returning for what we were just POSITIVE was going to be the greatest supernatural light show Marfa has ever laid eyes on. HOWEVER, as the winds whipped over... More

A nice night out under the stars. Not sure if we saw the actual mystery lights (not sure what we were looking for!) but we did see many small lights appearing, disappearing and moving around and had a lovely night out I the desert, watching the sun set, Taking photos, watching the sun set and chatting to other visitors and... If you’re in the area, you have to go. Make sure to wait until at least an hour past sunset for complete darkness, and it’s best on a clear night without a full moon. On the night I was there, there were a lot of people. It was fun but it was too hazy to see any lights. The viewing... More

If you can take binoculars or a spotting scope, it is very useful to distinguish car headlights from mystery lights. There is one or two mounted scopes on the pavilion of suspect viewing quality. Also, and equally important, the experience is best if you can get there before dark to check out the lay of the land that you will... More

Visiting the viewing location for the Marfa lights can be a mystical and fun evening event. We included it with a camping trip to Fort Davis. While there was better star gazing than anything at the viewing station, we did see a few mystery lights. We observed odd lights at the horizon blink to green, move and disappear and reappear...
