Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had originally booked through an independent boat tour guy at a pretty cheap price, but when he was unable to take us because we had too many people, this tour company (touristoptions.com) right down the beach agreed to take us at the same price! They are fabulous. Entire crew was super friendly, felt very safe leaving our belongings in boat while we went snorkeling. Our captain was Gael, assistant was Jose, and our fantastic guide (who spoke fluent English) was Gerson.

They take you to Cayos from the mainland (~45 mins), you go on a short hike to see the pink boas of the island (we saw a few--they used to let you hold them but people's insect repellent on their skin was poisoning and killing the boas, so you can't anymore), then you go to another island to snorkel (amazing), and then you go to a third island to eat and hang out before you leave. It's a day tour and you must leave by 1:30-2pm because the water gets very choppy after that. The tour is so great, though! Our friends who live in Honduras said they will be going back to them again in the future!

NOTE: Wear a high sunscreen if you're at all light skinned. We all got very burnt! And bring your own towel of course. You will definitely get wet on the boat ride from the mainland to Cayos and back!

We had a great day at Cayos Cochinos, Honduras under Tourist Options guides. You can give them a call and they will pick you at your house/hotel. Snorkeling at Cayos was just amazing!

If you are in Honduras, I recommend you visit Cayos Cochinos. Located a couple of miles Northeast of la ceiba. It is a 30 min boat ride. You can arrange for a pick up from your hotel in la ceiba or you can meet them directly in Sambo Creek. I highly recommend www.cayostour.com , They met us at our hotel but unfortunately their van was full so we drove in our car to Sambo Creek early morning. This is a 6-8 hr tour so I recommend that nothing else is planned for the day.

You will take a boat ride out to see the 14 small cays, including two large islands. They will later take you to a Science research center and talk to you about the turtles that lay eggs every year there. You will take a hike in one of the islands to see the pink Boa. Native to the island and can only be seen there. For lunch you will visit a small island with native Afro-Caribs o known in the mainland as Garifunas. They will give you a nice Fried Fish with rice and beans. BTW, it was delicious!! and i forgot to mention the pristine, clear water. You will also do a snorkel tour.

Overall, its an excellent must do trip!!

The organization of this operator is a mess. First day, we arrived at the agreed time (7 am). We had to pay for a taxi that they sent us because they don't provide free shuttle service. After waiting for more than a hour, we were told that the tour was cancelled. We had booked a 2 day one night tour. The explaination they gave us was that the other four people that were supposed to come with us in the tour couldn't make it because a journey incident. They told us that they'd lose money if only two people do the tour. That wasn't obviously our problem and it was not very professional. As we had time we didn't complain and agreed to delay a day our trip. Next day the story was similar. We had to wait again for 1 hour and a half! Luckily, this time the other people of the tour arrived and we could depart. The tour was ok, but kind of a rush, we could only spend 15-20 minutes in each Cayo, which was clearly insufficient. I guess that that short time was consequence of the previous delay. We ate in Cayo Chachahuate and asked the guide to show us the hotel room they were supposed to have booked. To our surprise they hadn't booked any. The guide helped us to look for one room. The photos of the bungalow that Cayos tour had previously sent us by email (a small bungalow with a terrace with hammocks) withhad nothing to do with the room we were allocated. I don't complain about the simple but somehow nice room we stayed, but it was obviously a fake. Next day we had to search for our boat to return and they kind if rush us to go in the first boat to leave.. To sum up, there are far better options for visiting Cayos. Nobody gave us good feedback of this tour operator while we stayed in the island, and we learnt why.
