My wife and I went to the museum today. It had four floors of a mix of historical items and memorabilia. There was interesting historical information about Jefferson and Marion county, but also random selection of donations from various towns people.

You can't go to Jefferson and not do the ghost tour and visit this enthralling museum. The building is packed with artifacts from Jefferson's long and storied history, and you will want to take your time and learn about each and every thing there.

Make sure to utilize the women's restroom...its absolutely marvelous! So many intriguing artifacts, such as the moustache tea cup! A glimpse of old Confederate monies, guns, surgical instruments, handcuffs, etc. Also a Texas State Flag that has been to the moon!!

The building itself is very interesting. The displayed objects are clearly grouped and presented. One could spend a lot of time here. Much of it relates to Jefferson and the local area.

This museum is awesome! It has many rooms of great historical artifacts. It is actually pretty big and requires a lot of walking up and down stairs. The model train display out back is great! I enjoyed our visit to Jefferson and this museum.

Good collection of historical items as well as a large collection of dolls. The miniature railroad exhibit behind the main building is fascinating and fun for all ages. I gave it four stars because the upper floors aren't accessible, although the docent did say that...More

The building has been a post office, federal building, federal courthouse saved from demolition by a local preservation league. Lot of the memorabilia was common to the time period and did not have a lot of "wow" to it but all preserved and marked by...More
