This was a great rainy day activity and was well worth our trip to Huntsville. You can spend hours there looking at prison artifacts and reading tidbits about prisoners, both famous and not so famous. What a wealth of information. Definitely worth your time and a small entrance fee of just $5.00 ($4.00 for military and seniors) makes it an... More

I would recommend this for an out of town guest, families and couples. The inmate artwork alone is pretty amazing and the creative items found by guards are equally as fascinating!! Strange but interesting place to visit and kids will enjoy this too.

Our last hike day was rainy so we opted for the Prison Museum. We were so impressed and amazed at the history and information it contained. It was so well done and so sobering. It took more time than we allowed so we will be back

Very, very cool stuff and interesting facts about the prison system coming up, and famous/infamous people who have been held there. It's a must-see for the price!

This was going to be 'just a quick stop' on our way to Houston. We ended up staying longer than anticipated & both my husband & I enjoyed it. Was full of interesting exhibits & the staff were lovely & friendly

Send kids and rowdy relatives. Put'em in The Chair or the Gurney. This place will help you be thankful someone is willing to keep the unlawful someplace other than your home.

I had about an hour to blow before a meeting so I stopped in here. The $4.00 entry fee for Seniors was well-worth the price. This small museum is well laid out and easy to follow. My time was well spent.

We stopped here on a road trip and really enjoyed the museum. The entry fees were very reasonable - $5 for adults and $4 for seniors. Learned about the prison system, the prison rodeo, famous former prisoners (Crosby of Crosby, Stills, and Nash; Clyde of Bonnie and Clyde, etc.), and even the electric chair. The museum staff were very friendly... More

We dropped by this museum on our way back from Sam Houston Museum. It is always nice to know even about prison as a part of Texas history

Texas electric chair (Old Sparky) is on display here plus history on the prison system over the last 150 years. Step into a replica of a cell, slide the door shut and have your picture taken. Also learn about the famous Texas Rodeo. See displays of illegal weapons made by inmates, along with artwork. The gift shop does sell many... More
