Cool!

We have drove passed here coming and going from Houston to Dallas for over 30 years. So we decided to stop. This statue is amazing.

We have always check this out since i was a kid. Now that i have kid of my own i like to stop and show him the statue its an iconic thing for the area. If you hapoen to drive by on one of the few times it freezes the ice sickles hang from it and look pretty neat.

Nice place to stretch your legs while passing on a long car ride. Make sure to take the next exit and loop around on 75 instead of parking on freeway. Small unique Texas gift shop and historical information room. Walking trail to statue is shaded and nice. Plenty of parking and room for busses. Somewhat handicap accessible.

We were curious about seeing this well hyped statue. Yes it was Texas Tall, and the man a hero and historic, but it could also have been added to the list for people who enjoy looking for the largest ball of twine, the biggest Jackalope, The Cadillac Ranch or the Wig Wam Motel. The small grounds around the statue were... More

Very impressive statue. Looks great at night. Good photo op and great place to stretch your legs. Restrooms could use some updating.

I have always enjoyed landmarks especially roadside ones. My teens thought it was really weird to visit but quickly changed their minds once they say the enormity of the statue. This will b something they will always remember

This statue of Sam Houston stands 77 feet tall, and you can see it from the highway but be sure and stop in the visitor center and gift shop. We spoke with one of the volunteers there, who knows the history of the statue and can answer all your questions about it and the area, plus is able to inform... More

Great place to stop and learn a little history of the state of Texas. There is lots of free parking at the Sam Houston Statue and Visitor Center so that you don't have to park on the interstate. Beautiful area and fun for all ages to have your picture taken with Big Sam!
