Good way to get to Downtown, medical centers, museums and universities

I love streetcars and Houston has one of the finest systems I've seen, and it's expanding. I played hooky from my conference one day and ended up on the southbound streetcar from... read more

We loved how we could park the car in a garage and use the metro to Ride around town. It's well Connected. It's very reasonable and you don't have to worry about parking. You can use the same card for two hours and ride the metro. It's also a fun way to check out the downtown without getting off. The... More

I found it hard to believe that a major city like Houston had no dedicated transfer system from the airport to the city but it is indeed true. Arriving into terminal D I was told the info desk didn't have any information, moving to terminal C I found the bus stop for the 102, again not a shred of information... More

The best deal in public transportation is the bus ride from center city Houston to IAH. Similar bus accomodations to the FlyAway in Los Angles but at $1.25 ($0.60 for seniors). Best if you travel light.....you have to carry and cart your own suitcase. Watch the hours because it's best for day arrivals. It gets a little complicated at the... More

I love streetcars and Houston has one of the finest systems I've seen, and it's expanding. I played hooky from my conference one day and ended up on the southbound streetcar from Downtown. I figured I'd let it take me around town. I had no destination, but knew I'd make a stop if anything seemed interesting enough. It was great... More

Riding in the inner city is a smelly ride. It's decently priced. Metro 713 635 4000 for bus info and Train info

I have a two month old daughter I had to take her to the clinic so I decided to ride the metro for the first time. I looked online if I could take a stroller and it said yes but for safety reasons the stroller has to fold 'while on board'. Ok so I took the stroller and on my... More

you would think a simple park & ride into town to the George R Brown convention center would be simple. But there are multiple 228s with different routes and misinformation like 131 returns to the park and ride. if it weren't for the nice customer service people and bus drivers, as an out of towner, I would be screwed.

Compared to the public transit systems of other large cities (NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, etc...), Houston's is pretty cheap at $1.25 per ride. (And a Day Pass for $3, but you'll probably never need one). I hear Houstonians complain all the time about the quality of Metro, but honestly, it's not that bad. I've taken public transit at a lot... More

Our group took the MetroRail from a stop near our hotel to the Zoo one day and the Holocaust Museum on another. We got there and back very quickly. Ride cost was very reasonable, although on the first day we didn't quite grasp how the ticketing system worked. We purchased two tickets at our first entry (to cover our round... More

Bus wait is long, and the last time i checked it is pay per ride with a very short transfer ticket life. The bus system is looming, not knowing exactly what to make of Houston's cryptic highway and road system.
