Wonderful docent led tour of this house museum. Led into 1950s sitting area and told only place in house could sit or touch anything. Photography is allowed without flash. I was on first tour of the day which happened to be just me and the docent Pat. The owners, the Mastersons, collected a lot of porcelain. The house is part of... More

A house museum in a residential neighborhood. Peaceful garden that you can wander. Beautiful house built in the style of 18th century English mansion. Only timed docent-led tour is offered. The tour is very includes the history of the house and stories about the art works in the house. A small room with changing exhibit is available for perusal before... More

This is a great place to go a couple times a year or more. They also have events there (check their website). A great tour and beautiful grounds right in the heart of Houston.

Rienzi was a real home, though not one like you and I probably live in. The magnificent European antiques give a glimpse of another period in time as well as a look at how you might live if money were no object. Paintings, silver, an amazing collection of English china, decorative items beautiful beyond imagination!

This tour lasts about an hour after check-in. We had an excellent guide. She was knowledgable and interesting. She stayed in each room as long as the group was interested or had questions. This mansion is a statement when it comes to extravagant paint finishes, floor treatments, china, porcelain, and sculptures. The grounds are worth it on a good day... More

I went with Groupon, and it was a fascinating tour. Very neat place in the River Oaks area. Check it out before you get married; they do events.

Hard to visit. Garden is free and open but inside is by docent tour only. You have to call and schedule a tour. It's not expensive but I would find it overrated. It's a nice mansion in an exquisite area of Houston. The house itself has nothing special from the architectural point of view. And the docent was trying to... More

Donated by the Masterson family, Rienze is one of the most beautiful homes in Houston. The gardens are quite beautiful and unique. If you love architecture and beautiful gardens then this should be on your list of places to visit.

A thing of Beauty to Behold! Harris and Carol Masterson, patrons to The Arts, and members of one of the oldest family in Houston, loved traveling and collecting exquisite things. To tour this beautiful home and the gardens, is somehow like seeing one of the smaller museums in Europe.

The museum site touted the free photography in the surrounding garden day as a setting for a stroll. It is a very small area, due to the numerous signs blocking the paths and what looked to be interestig walks down to a creek area. The way it is set up tho is simply a short loop around the home/ museum... More
