There are hundreds of monuments in DC. This one would be easy to miss. It's away from the heart of DC, right next to Arlington Cemetery. It is so detailed and huge. You can get right up next to it. It's beautiful. Impressive. Don't miss it.

It is a small building but very informative and a moving experience. Got to meet a survivor of Iwo Jima. He visits almost every Saturday. Will definitely return to see again.

We went and walked the grounds before going into the museum and gift shop area. The grounds are well maintained and the locals thought out how to best present the memorial. The gift shop has items for sale representing all the service branches, even though it is with the Marine Military Academy, a college-prep private school. The museum includes an... More

Went to see this statue. Amazing ....peaceful.... easy to find since it's close to the Harlingen airport....well marked . The museum gift shop is also worth dropping into. It's filled with lots of information.

Is very impressive. We watched parade on Veteran's Day. Beautiful! The boys looked magnificent Their march was so perfect that their parents should be very proud of them!

The tiny island of Iwo Jima is located below Japan and East of Taiwan. Although I had heard of this monument, I was not aware of the extremely high cost of lives that preceded the raising or our American Flag. The approx. 30 minute film in the museum is a must. It is well narrated and informative and will give... More

The Iwo Jima Memorial and Museum will bring tears of appreciation to visitors' eyes. The giant statue is the model for the statue in Washington D. C. commemorating the raising of the flag after the defeat of the Japanese on this small hilly island. Inscribed around the top edge of the base is a list of wars, battles, and invasions... More

Great history. The staff includes men and women who served during the Korean War. Beautiful place with a place to walk and a museum with a movie.

If we had been on the ball, we would have visited the Museum a week earlier when there was a special commemoration. But even so, we learned a lot about the history of Iwo Jima. I never realized that a seemingly easy to conquer little island, was so hard won. I was a young girl in a Japanese concentration camp... More
