This monument honors James Fannin and his 340 men who surrendered to Mexican forces after the Battle of Coleto Creek only to be summarily executed. The memorial is located on a country road just outside of Goliad and includes a nice little Museum. The day...More

I stumbled upon a sign heading to Goliad that stated Fannin Battle grounds, there is the monument a building that you do not realize until right on it that inside has so much history information and moving stories.

Interesting history surrounds this man and his soldiers. He surrendered and he and his men were executed. However the battle was significant in the march to independence from Mexico.

After visiting the Presido La Bahia in Goliad we felt compelled to further our knowledge of the events that occurred in 1836 by visiting here. Much more of an actual park for locals than a detailed historic rendition but it is the actual battlesite.

Great addition to our visit to Goliad. It's a very simple park. Late in March they do reinactments that I bet would be interesting.

A well done monument to memorialize those lost in the battles of Coletto Creek and those massacred afterwards. Maintenance of the grounds could be done better, but after coming from La Bahia, it is very somber knowing what these men went through.

Goliad in general with worth the stop as you can see the monument for Col. Fannin and his men as well as a Mission and Presidio La Bahia. All of these landmarks and a few more are right there together. We spent an hour there...More
