A good place for quick scenery joy

We stopped by Big Rocks Park on the way to Granbury. The rocks are big but they are very enjoyable when you walk on top of them. Next to those big rocks is a creek or river.

This place is so cool. A must if you have kids and passing through or live close. If you are visiting Dinosaur Valley stop here too. Free city park right next to Paluxy river and the city dam. Has parking. A paved hiking/bike trail to/from town, you can walk across dam. Countless rocks big and small to climb for young... More

Water was low when we went. Lots of fun to see stuff you normally can't during the wetter season. Did some fishing and swimming.

This was such a neat experience. Pictures of this place do not do justice to the size of these rocks. My kids enjoyed climbing all over the rocks. It can be a bit difficult to maneuver around and over them so watch your step. Overall the park was awesome to see, and I keep telling everyone that they MUST check... More

We spent a few days at the town owned campground across the street and walked over a couple of times. This is a nice place to just walk around or to explore. It is really best for young kids because they can run and jump all over the hugh boulders. If you want you can also spend the day fishing.... More

I visited this on the way out of town. It is across the street from where I camped. The park itself is a bunch of rocks you can climb/walk (depending on your height!) with a river running next to it. I didn't see a playground or place to have a picnic but I also didn't go on the other side... More

Peaceful and scenic park with convenient access from highway. Nice riverside park adjacent to Glen Rose city center. Some grassy areas, but mostly huge boulders in river or along shore. Pack a lunch or a snack and enjoy to view and the river.

I never knew about this place and had been to Glen Rose a couple of times. My brother-in-law clued me in, and I'm glad he did. These are just amazing huge rocks along the Paluxy river worth the stop and climb like the kids do. Or enjoy just watching the river from top of the rocks.

Even if you just do a quick drive-by, go see Big Rocks and ponder how in the world something that big ended up right there. Fun for kids to traverse and a good swimming hole in the warmer months.
