Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is where Africa comes to Texas. Our 1,800-acre preserve holds a 9.5 mile scenic drive where you can interact with over 1,100 rare and endangered animals roaming free in their herds. Stay in your car, reserve your spot on a guided tour, or even spend a night at our Safari Camp or Lodge to see over 50 different species of wild animals including cheetahs, wolves, giraffes, rhinos and more. The delicious food at The Overlook Cafe is paired with an incredible view overlooking the park and our gift shop offers souvenirs to take home to family and friends. While Fossil Rim is sure to provide a unique experience and exciting adventure, we are dedicated to the conservation of species on the brink of extinction. Fossil Rim conducts scientific research, trains professionals, responsibly manages our natural resources and is committed to public education. We are a not-for-profit breeding center dedicated to the recovery of species in the wild and we invite you to join us in our efforts. Grab your camera and head this way for the scenic wildlife drive you won't forget. Located in Glen Rose, Texas, we are just 52 miles SW of Fort Worth and well worth a visit for people of all ages!

Went with our three kids - all toddler age - they loved it. If you go in the summer go in the morning, right when they open, or else all the animals will be sitting under the shade. They cannot be enticed by food. I...More

We did the group tour in June 2017. It was great. Lots of behind the scene areas that you can't go to in your own car. The tour vehicles go off the road to other areas of the park. Plus you get a lot of...More

We really enjoyed this. I didn't come in to the experience very excited about it but it was fun. We went early and it wasn't very crowded. A good mix of animals but you will notice there is more deer than anything. Kids enjoyed it....More

We've visited fossil rim several times over the years and always have a great time. We went Friday afternoon and, unfortunately, many of the animals were napping in the shade. We didn't get to feed the giraffes or the zebras which are kinda the highlight....More

I'm glad you still enjoyed it! We definitely recommend morning visits in the summer if at all possible, but it sounds like you already figured that out. :)

Worth the drive from nearby cities, fossil rim was unlike anywhere I've ever been. Zebras and giraffes were our favorites but there are emus, deer, ibex, wildebeest and countless other animals to see up close. The cheetahs are of course in an enclosure but the...More

It is about 10 miles. I think it will not take more than 15-20 minutes to reach there. The speed limit near the Dinosaur state park is lower than the normal speed levels and therefore more time.
