Porretto Beach was a huge disappointment. It was dirty and disorganized, cluttered by junk, ropes, plastic barrels, etc. Bad parking. Go anywhere else!

We did the crab run on this beach 5 years in a row. I think it is a delightful beach. The have the standard opportunities, rentals. It is rather sad that there is a lot of controversy for the private owners. We prefer to shop local and frequent privately owned business whenever possible.

Plenty of other beach areas and this place is simply not worth it. Often it is not kept up. Drive on down to Stewart Beach or East Beach or plenty of beaches on the sea wall that are free.

Our visit had poor timing....after the flooding all across Texas, the beaches at Galveston looked like you would expect. However, the lifeguards were on duty, the sun was shining and it was a great day for a walk along the gulf! This public beach is probably very clean when nature hasn't been so heavy handed. Parking is simple (you can... More

Everyone talks about the water being dirty at Galveston beaches, and it is definitely not pristine or blue. Having said that, the Porretto Beach was a great choice for my family and I. It was not crowded, the shoreline was clean, and the waves were super fun on the day we attended.

There were six cars hooked to tow trucks at... More

We paid to park there one summer, decided to walk down the beach to see the sunset, came back only a few minutes past 8pm (their closing time), and found that our car was already hooked up to a tow truck! We had to pay $150 to unhook it. The parking lot was full of police and tow trucks. They... More
