Interesting History of Galveston (The Great Storm)

Although this movie was interesting and showed the history of Galveston in that period, it is more of a slide type documentary. As the show began, the storm scenes could have... read more

Disappointed, family had trouble finding the theatre and arrived just one minute before film began and cashier refused to sell us a ticket for safety reasons! After talking to her for a minute, telling her we running to get there and had already paid to park she then tells us she could sell tickets up to one minute before start... More

I love reading about the Galveston storm of 1900 but was very disappointed in the 27 minute documentary about the event. Felt very poorly put together and out of focus for the entire presentation. We also watched a documentary about the pirate era...again disappointing. The only good thing about these 2 films were they didn't take a lot of our... More

It should be better priced as a $5 deal for 27 minutes of an amateur documentary. We learned what we wanted and rested after the long walk we had taken. Not interesting for young children in my opinion.

Both films seem amateurish by today's standards and need to be updated. I've seen better documentaries on the Great Storm of 1900 on PBS and the History Channel. The films are mercifully short yet relatively expensive , almost has a tourist trap feel to it. Theater needs a modern sound system and 3-D wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Venue was clean, staff was friendly but we really expected more. The films were short and cheaply made, not that informative.

Although this movie was interesting and showed the history of Galveston in that period, it is more of a slide type documentary. As the show began, the storm scenes could have been depicted better, but as the show ended, we thought it was good and gave a better picture of history. The small theatre was attractive and clean. The publishing... More

Pier 21 theater was raved about by a local that we had talked to, so we decided to check it out. The girl at the admissions counter looked less than enthused to be there and looked like she'd rather be somewhere else. The background music and noise were so loud that we couldn't hear the voices of the narrators of... More

We saw The Great Storm, a 25 minute movie about the 1900 Galveston hurricane. $6 per person was too much for what it was. It was my husband and I so we paid $12 and it reminded me of those cheesy movies you had to watch in history class...and I love history! I did learn some things from the movie,... More

Was told to make sure and check out this theater. We watched the Great Storm - it was a good history lesson and a short movie.
