Called at last minute as early for a Stockyards visit and facility opens for visitors at around 8.30am. Rez Really glad we did! Super interesting to do the self guided free tour which takes you over the top of the production line where you can see the money being printed and packaged. The skill involved is amazing, and all the... More

Took my sister to visit this for a birthday outing -- We had never been and found the whole thing fascinating. The tour is really good - you walk through at your own pace, listen to the devices giving you information at numbered stops - everything is glassed off so you actually look out over the facility and see people... This has been on my bucket list for a long time. When you arrive at the facility, a recording lets you know which items are prohibited (cameras, cell phones, food). You go through a small building to catch a tram to the factory. Once at the factory, there is a 15-minute movie. The tour is self-guided. There is an audio... More

Great place to visit. One of two engraving and printing places in the US. Very informative. We watched the brief film and then went on the self-guiding tour. Learned a lot about making paper money.

A unique experience touring the money factory, buying uncut money, and learning all about minting money through the various exhibits. The movie is interesting too. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

Tour was very informative. Tour is self guided with an audio guide. Got to see workers working down below while you listened to descriptions of what was going on at each stop. Has 2 floors of the history of money and the money making process. Learned a lot more about money than I thought possible and had fun going through... More

Very interesting self-tour in 3 parts -- movie, self-guided audio tour overlooking the printing floor and the exhibits. I enjoyed the exhibits the most because they described the unique features in the bill design then had it magnified for you to see the work. Allow a couple of hours. You are required to leave most of your stuff in the... More

As others have noted you have to keep your electronics including phones in your car. Typically government agencies are not know as a great examples of lean however the focus on lean and continuous improvement could be seen throughout the facility. The site has implemented an impressive cross training initiative where employees rotate roles throughout the day. The shuttle bus... More

While very informative and somewhat interesting, I would never want to spend a day of an expensive Washington D.C. vacation visiting the only other Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It's a great local attraction, but not really vacation worthy. Having said that, we enjoyed it and are glad we visited. Every single person we met working there was friendly! Even... More

It's not every day you get to see $30.3 million dollars be made right in front of your eyes . If you are looking for those once in a lifetime kind of activities put this on your list. Fun, informative and best of all free!
