Overview
More
Today, each of the historic structures, furnished with authentic artifacts, provides a vivid look at life in the nineteenth century North Texas frontier. Each log house displays different aspect of pioneer life. The exhibits include a water-powered gristmill, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, an herb garden, and several log home settings. Historical interpreters, who are City of Fort Worth staff and volunteers, depict the lifestyle of the people who lived and settled the area in the mid to late 1800s.

This place is amazing. I had no idea it was here. I've lived in Fort Worth area for 17 years and had no idea. What a fantastic place. I would come back and bring friends.

I went with friends, it was interesting. I liked the way there was staff dressed in period clothing. The blacksmith and candle making areas were interesting. If you have some time to kill worth stopping.

We are glad that they are preserving this piece of history. We simply did not find it all that compelling, but it is in a lovley area of the city. It is also near the zoo.

We first picnicked on the grounds and then 10 of us visited the 11 houses including a blacksmith, candle maker, schoolhouse, and old homes. The guides were in period costumes and very helpful. All (4 adults, 6 children 8-14) all enjoyed this visit...well worth it.

We got there when they opened (to avoid the 1/2 price day traffic at the zoo across the street) and very much enjoyed it. The buildings and their curators (in period costume) were most interesting and informative. What is especially nice is the shade, the...More
