The grounds are nicely done and the water feature was really nice. The signage to go along with the silhouettes was faded and flacking off yet what you could read was interesting. Outside the building you can pick up maps and a brochure about Fort...More

Pleasant staff, clean restrooms , local information , historical silhouettes and that’s about it. Pecos Pete the huge Roadrunner is about 100 yards away. That’s it.

The visitors' center was closing as we arrived, and they kindly stayed to help us even though it was after hours. With lots of helpful tourist info, the center is house down in an attractive old railway depot.

The lady we talked to at the Visitor Center was a wealth of info about Ft. Stockton. She really knows the history and how to direct you to get the most out of your visit. She was so very sweet...we really enjoyed talking to her.

They have done a great job in maintaining and restoring parts of Fort Stockton. It was never as big as Fort Davis but was an integral part of the Buffalo Soldier experience and western expansion. The first building built was the Post Stockade and it...More
