It was an interesting collection of buildings. It is nice that they trust people with a self guided tour. The maintenance seems to be lacking, which makes me worry about the long term prospects of this place. Granted there are log cabins that are over 100 years old, so it is hard to argue they won't last, but some things... More

As a history teacher I found this incredibly enlightening. There was a variety of buildings built as early as 1840. One-room cabins, large homes, a school house, church, and more gave a real taste of early Grayson County.

The Grayson County Frontier Village and Museum is located in Loy Park, between Sherman and Denison. The park includes a visitors center and county museum, with many interesting historical artifacts and great photographs. Spread across the grounds are about 25 buildings, including area log cabins and homes built between 1830 and 1870, a small replica pioneer courthouse, smokehouse, newspaper office... More

Don't drive by without stopping. This is a rare gem to find. The people in charge have done a great job of preserving history for our enjoyment. They have several building from all over Grayson Co. that have been moved and preserved here. They have a Civil War reenactment coming up in October. I can hardly wait to attend. There's... More

This place is right off the highway. It's easy to find. Lots of homes from the pioneer days. There is also a lake in the park. If you are here during Christmas, they have the Christmas lights tour you can drive through!!!

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable; he alone was well worth the price of admission (which was very reasonable). We learned so much about this area of Texas from him. We highly recommend spending an hour or so there to see how people of various socio/economic levels lived in the 1800's. Then see the Eisenhower monument on the way out... More

This old frontier village has been moved to this area and all you do is look at the buildings and inside some of the windows. The site is a park and there is a large lake close by plus the fair grounds just beyond the village. The entire complex if just off of Hwy 75. Worth fa ew minutes of... More

The homes and buildings on this property are very interesting. There were a few places where I thought the decor was not old enough, but this was still a pleasant stop. It was disappointing that there were so many buildings we could not enter, but there was plenty to see. The cost was reasonable, and the main building contained artifacts... More

A lot of building have been moved there. A few you can go in the rest just look though the door or windows. The grounds don't have much grass. The day we were there had rained and walked in mud. The two large home you couldn't tour do to bees and wasps. It could reaaly use alot of work. You... More
