Because everything is bigger in Texas, Dallas proudly flies TWO Red Horses: the rebuilt/restored original installed outside the OMNI Dallas Hotel in 2015, and the “new” Pegasus atop the Magnolia Hotel installed in 2000. The new replaced the rusty 1934 original atop the city’s then tallest building and first skyscraper, the Magnolia Building. The rotating red porcelain and neon Pegasus... More

Besides the sign atop the Magnolia Hotel, which is obscured from sight at many angles, the restoration of the original sign, outside the Omni Hotel near the Convention Center, is much more accessible, at ground level. And there is one on display in the lobby of the Big Red Museum of Dallas history, as well.

It's a historic symbol of an industry. Nostalgia, red neon sign. Take a few pictures and move on to other history and architecture in the area.

Pegasus Sign is such a pleasant memory. Everyone that grew up seeing it should take the young members of their family there to share stories and reminisce. Truly enjoyable.

Glad they decided to replace the original sign and not do away with the landmark. This is one of the original Dallas landmarks. The original sign can also be seen as a new lawn ornament near the convention center.

I love looking for the Pegasus Sign whenever I drive by downtown Dallas. Back in 1962, when I went to high school here, it was on the largest building in town, and you could see it from any direction. Now it is lost among the taller buildings, but can still be seen from some locations. I heard the original Pegasus... More

The restored original Pegasus sign rotates happily in front of the glorious Omni Dallas hotel. On the Magnolia building at Magnolia square actually stands a replica.

One Pegasus was on top of a building that I saw when I was walking around Dallas, and the other (I believe this one is the restored origional) one in front of a hotel, I think the Omni. Fun to see the old symbols, and what they represent. Fun for sign fans, I am sure

The history of the Pegasus sign in downtown Dallas has numerous implications. It is of course an icon but is more and more lost in the skyscrapers of downtown. Written up in one of my novels, Indicent Without Honor, it has obvious connections to anyone of Greek heritage.
