The experience was outstanding, so worth every cent! We went to meet donkeys before the riding and the horses were well taken care of, seemed happy and healthy. There was about a 15 minute ride thru the forest before we reached the beach and IT WAS AMAZING! The views, Luis (the host) and the experience in all was amazing. Book now!

My 4 year old daughter had been nagging me for a while about, and I quote "riding a horse on the beach with the wind in her hair". So I took her to do just that and the experience blew my own hair back. We got on our horses and set out from Melides. Before long we reached the lush woods of Rivendell and passed along the brim of Fangorn forest. On our way to Vaes Dothrak we blazed past the poison water of Alentejo's salty sea and later on, starving and outnumbered, we charged the fields of Bannockburn like warrior poets. This is by far the best horse ride in Portugal and you cannot call yourself a blood rider until you've been in it. As we Dothraki say, che dothras che drivos - ride or die. Thank you, LuÃs Lamas. I would say thank you but there is no word for it in Dothraki.

We really enjoyed this walk towards the ocean, the view is really breathtaking! The only thing I didn’t like very much was that we went out in 11 people (all without experience with horses) and only one guide. The horses were a little bit nervous and we had a few small inconvenients; a girl ran into the woods and got branches all over her face because the horse wouldn’t calma down. I guess it would be better to have smaller groups of maximum 5/6 people with one guide. Also I think that kids under a certain age shouldn’t be allowed to ride outside the horse riding center. Anyways I do recommend this experience, better if you can ride and manage a horse by yourself!

I got the early (7.30am) bus from Sete Rios bus station in Lisbon to Grandola, where I arrived at around 9.15am. You can buy bus tickets online or at the station and costs about €13. I then got a taxi from Grandola to the stables. So it is doable without transport, it just takes a while! It was definitely worth it though. Tiago, who took us out, was really friendly and genuine. We went over the dunes and along the huge expanse of white sand beach, with the waves crashing next to us; the setting really is stunning. If you are an experienced rider and they trust you enough, they may take you for a canter at the end of the main ride, which was great. Tiago was kind enough to give me a lift back to Melides where I got some lunch then hopped on a bus back to Grandola (cheaper than the taxi). I got a train back to Lisbon and that took about an hour. All in all I would highly recommend doing this, whether you are a novice, intermediate or advanced. Obrigado Tiago and Luis!

Went with family of 4 on 10/6/2019. Supposed to be on a beach ride with lunch. In the end, lunch was not arranged and said there was some miscommunication. The ride was too rigid, without safety measures like headwear. Not a good experience pverrall. Does not worth the ride.

A friend and I went on a three day riding holiday and had a great time. The countryside is beautiful and we were lucky enough to see all the wild flowers in bloom. Each of the days riding were varied, including riding along a picture perfect beach. I especially enjoyed the second day riding to the beach and the long canters on the sandy paths. The horses were beautiful, calm, well looked after and easy to ride. Luis and his family made us feel very welcome including delicious home cooked lunches brought to us by Luis's mum. Highly recommended.

For the second time this year, students of Greene's Tutorial College - Lisbon (aged 15-17) were welcomed by LuÃs Lamas and his collaborators in this astonishing slice of Eden and went horseback riding along green forests filled with shadowy trees and scented shrubs, preambling a white sandy beach stretching all the way to the horizon without any visible human presence. In all, nine horses set out for a journey in which the only sounds were those of the horses' hooves breaking the twigs underneath, the waves crashing down on the sprawling shore, and a constant string of "wows" from some very awestruck the students.
Afterwards, we had an amazing picnic and time flew by. We had plans to go out into town afterwards and do some sightseeing but the students asked if they could stick around for longer instead. LuÃs graciously agreed, and as a result we ended up doing an impromptu photo shoot within the property, which ended up bringing out an artistic side of my students I was not aware of.
I cannot recommend this experience enough, not only for the place and the horsebackriding themselves, but for the people that make everything happen. In that regard, all praise is due to LuÃs Lamas for being so accomodating and at once extremely friendly and highly professional. If it wasn't for people like him in the world, we would all be better off living with wild horses. And if other school principals such as myself are interested in giving their students a taste of something a little more unusual than the average school trip, take my word for it and look no further. It's the perfect mix of excitement and awe, and it provided an opportunity for a sorely needed contact with Portuguese natural beauty. And in case anyone is left wondering, it's all perfectly safe.
We shall meet again, LuÃs! The kids say hello to you, your mom and lovely wife, by the way. They are still talking about it. Cheers!

The Lusitano horses are very well taken care of and trustworthy; easy to ride for both for beginners and experienced riders. If you're experienced, you'll enjoy also their energy and comfort. Luis, who is a veterinarian, is professional, helpful and very friendly. It is nice beach side surroundings & a pristine beach.

Hi, I would like to come on the morning ride on Friday 21 June. Is there a way I can get to your location by train/taxi from Lisbon? I won't have a car unfortunately. Thanks for your help!
Written 11 June 2019
Dear oliver,
Hope you are well! You can come by train "cp.pt" or bus "Rede expresso"!
You need to cash the train or bus to Grandola and then cash a taxi!
Please let me know what will be the day that you would like to come!
Thanks a lot
